TESTAMENT OF LEVI - Copy of the words of Levi, which he commanded to his sons about all they should do.

2I, Levi, was conceived in Haran and born there.

3And afterward I came with my father to Shechem.

4I was young, about twenty years old, when with Simeon I took vengeance on Hamor for our sister Dinah.

5And when we were feeding the flocks in Abel-Maul, the spirit of understanding from the Lord came upon me.

6And I saw all men corrupting their way, and unrighteousness had built walls for itself.

7And transgression was seated on towers.

8And I was grieved for the race of men, and I prayed to the Lord that I might be saved.

9Then a sleep fell upon me, and I saw a high mountain called the Mountain of Shields.

10And behold, the heavens were opened and an angel of God said to me: Levi, enter!
