2He was from Abel-meholah, of the territory of Reuben.

3When he was born, in Gilgal, a marvelous thing happened: the golden calf bellowed so loudly that the shrill sound was heard in Jerusalem;

4and the priest announced by Urim and Thummim that a prophet had been born to Israel who should destroy their graven and molten idols.

5Upon his death he was buried in Samaria.
