LUX VERITAS

Apocrypha · Chapter 28 of 114

The Shepherd of Hermas 28

Visions and Mandates

FOURTH COMMANDMENT: I command you, he said, to keep purity. Do not allow a thought to enter your heart regarding another's wife.

2Nor regarding fornication, nor any similar evil deed. Because doing so you commit great sin.

3But always remember your own wife, and you will never sin. Because if this desire enters your heart, you will sin.

4And if other similar evil things, you commit sin. Because this desire in a servant of God is great sin. And if anyone commits this evil deed, he works death for himself.
