Joseph, a senator from Arimathea, who awaited the kingdom of God, approached Pilate and asked him for the body of Jesus.
Then he went to take down the body from the cross, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth and placed it in the tomb.
The Jews imprisoned Joseph, but when they opened the prison on the first day of the week, they did not find him.
Guards reported: 'An earthquake occurred and we saw an angel who descended from heaven and rolled away the stone from the tomb.'
'And we heard the voice of the angel who said to the women: Fear not, Jesus has risen; he is in Galilee.'
The Jews paid the soldiers to say that the disciples stole the body.
But witnesses came from Galilee saying: 'We saw Jesus and his ascension to heaven.'
