For this cause, brethren, the Lord endured to deliver his flesh to destruction.
2That we might be purified by the remission of sins, that is, by the sprinkling of his blood.
3For it is written concerning him, partly for Israel, partly for us.
4It says thus: He was wounded for our sins and bruised for our iniquities.
5By his wound we were healed. Like a sheep he was led to slaughter.
6And like a lamb that remains silent before its shearer.
7We must therefore give rich thanks to the Lord.
8Because he has both revealed to us the past and given us wisdom in the present.
