Twelve Patriarchs 9

Patriarkhai

TESTAMENT OF GAD - Copy of the testament of Gad, which he spoke to his sons.

2I, Gad, the seventh son of Jacob, was born of Zilpah, servant of Leah.

3I was valiant and guarded my father's flocks at night.

4When a lion or wolf or any beast came against the flock, I pursued it.

5And catching it, I seized its paw and hurled it against a stone with a sling and killed it.

6Now Joseph fed the flocks with us for about thirty days.

7And being still young, he became ill because of the heat.

8And he returned to Hebron, to our father, who loved him because he was the son of his old age.

9Joseph told our father that the sons of Zilpah and Bilhah were killing the best animals of the flock.

10I hated Joseph because of this, until the day we sold him.
