Apocrypha · Chapter 7 of 12

Twelve Patriarchs 7

Patriarkhai

TESTAMENT OF DAN - Copy of the words of Dan, what he spoke to his sons in his last days.

2Hear my words, sons of Dan, pay attention to the words of your father.

3I have proved in my heart and in all my life that truth with righteousness is good and pleasing to God.

4And lying with anger is evil, because it teaches man all evil.

5I confess today that in my heart I wished the death of Joseph.

6And I rejoiced when he was sold because his father loved him more than us.

7The spirit of envy and pride said to me: You also are a son of Jacob.

8And one of the spirits of Beliar worked in me saying: Take this sword and kill Joseph.

9And his father will love you when he is dead.

10This was the spirit of anger that persuaded me to crush Joseph as a leopard crushes a kid.
