LUX VERITAS

Apocrypha · Chapter 8 of 16

Didache 8

Doctrine of the Apostles

But let your fasts not be with the hypocrites, for they fast on the second and fifth day of the week.

2Rather, fast on the fourth day and on the Preparation (Friday).

3Neither pray as the hypocrites, but as the Lord commanded in His Gospel, so pray:

4Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

5Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debt, as we also forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

6For Thine is the power and the glory forever. Pray thus three times a day.

About Didache

A handbook of the Christian community from the end of the 1st century: the two ways, how to baptise, how to pray, how to celebrate the eucharist and how to spot a prophet who is in it for himself.
