LUX VERITAS

Apocrypha · Chapter 5 of 16

Didache 5

Doctrine of the Apostles

And the way of death is this: First of all, it is evil and full of curse.

2Murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, magic arts, sorceries, robberies.

3False witnesses, hypocrisy, duplicity, deceit, arrogance, depravity, stubbornness, greed.

4Obscene speech, jealousy, presumptuousness, haughtiness, boastfulness.

5Persecutors of the good, haters of truth, lovers of lies, ignorant of the reward of righteousness.

6Those who do not cling to good nor to just judgment, vigilant not for good but for evil.

7From whom meekness and patience are far, lovers of vanities, seekers of vengeance.

8Who have no compassion for the poor, who do not labor for the afflicted, ignorant of him who made them.

9Murderers of children, destroyers of the work of God, who turn away from the needy, who afflict the distressed.

10Advocates of the rich, unjust judges of the poor, utterly sinful. Be delivered, children, from all these.

About Didache

A handbook of the Christian community from the end of the 1st century: the two ways, how to baptise, how to pray, how to celebrate the eucharist and how to spot a prophet who is in it for himself.
