Apocrypha

Apocalypse of Paul 20

And when I had entered the gate of paradise, an old man came to meet me whose face shone like the sun.

And he embraced me and said: Greetings, Paul, beloved of God.

And he kissed me with a joyful countenance, but he wept.

And I said to him: Brother, why do you weep?

And again sighing and weeping, he said: Why do we suffer for men? And they grieve us.

Because many are the good things that the Lord has prepared, and great are his promises, but many do not receive them.

And I asked the angel and said: Who is this, Lord?

And he said to me: This is Enoch, the scribe of righteousness.

And I entered that place and immediately saw Elijah, and he came and greeted me with great joy.

And when he saw me, he turned and wept and said to me: Paul, you can receive the reward of your labor that you did among humankind.

As for me, I have seen great and multiple good things that God has prepared for the righteous.
