Apocrypha · Chapter 3 of 6

First Book of Adam and Eve 3

The Life of Adam and Eve

God said to Adam: 'I have ordained the days and years in this earth and you and your offspring shall dwell in it.'

2'Then I will send the Word that created you and which you disobeyed.'

3'Yes, the Word that will save you when five days and a half are fulfilled.'

4But Adam did not understand the meaning, thinking there would be only five days and a half until the end of the world.

5God explained that these were five thousand and five hundred years; and how the One would come to save him.

6When Adam passed by the tree from which Eve had taken the fruit, he saw how it had dried up.

7Adam was afraid, trembled and fell; but God, in His mercy, raised him up and made this covenant with him.
