LUX VERITAS

Apocrypha · Chapter 5 of 20

2 Clement 5

Ancient Sermon

Therefore, brethren, leaving our sojourn in this world, let us do the will of him who called us and let us not fear to go out of this world.

2For the Lord said: You shall be as lambs in the midst of wolves.

3But Peter answered: And what if the wolves tear the lambs apart?

4Jesus said to Peter: The lambs should not fear the wolves after they are dead.

5And you, do not fear those who kill you and can do nothing more.

6But fear him who, after you die, has power over soul and body to cast them into the gehenna of fire.

7And know, brethren, that our sojourn in this flesh in this world is small and of short duration.

8But the promise of Christ is great and wonderful: the rest of the coming kingdom and eternal life.
