Apocrypha · Chapter 3 of 12

Infancy Gospel of Thomas 3

Miracles of the Child

The son of Annas the scribe was standing there with Joseph.

2And he took a willow branch and dispersed the water that Jesus had gathered.

3When Jesus saw what was done, he was angry and said to him: You, impious, disobedient and foolish one, what harm did the pools of water do you?

4Behold, now you will be made to wither like a tree, and you will not produce leaves, nor root, nor fruit.

5And immediately that boy withered completely.

6And his parents carried him away, lamenting his youth, and brought him to Joseph and accused him: You have such a son who does such things?

About Infancy Gospel of Thomas

The child Jesus of popular tales: clay birds that come to life and neighbours who learn not to provoke him. A text the church rejected and the people copied for centuries.
