Psalms 151-155 1

Psalm 151 - Thanksgiving of David after fighting Goliath

I was the smallest among my brothers, the youngest of my father's house. While leading my father's flock to pasture, I found a lion and a bear: I killed them and tore them to pieces.

By my hands I made a flute, my fingers made a harp.

The mountains bore no witness, the hills proclaimed nothing; yet the trees exalted my words and the flock exalted my deeds.

Who will tell my Lord?

Who will proclaim, who will make known, who will declare the deeds of the Lord of all things? God saw, listened and heard everything.

He sent his messenger to anoint me, he sent Samuel to make me great. He took me from the midst of my father's flock and anointed me with his oil.

My brothers were handsome and tall, but the Lord did not prefer them.

He drew me from behind the flock, anointed me with the holy oil, made me the leader of his People, king of the sons of his covenant.

I faced the Philistine, who cursed me by his idols.

I wrested his sword from him, cut off his head, and washed away the reproach from the children of Israel.
