Pistis Sophia 111

Wisdom of Faith

It came to pass then, when Jesus had finished speaking these words unto his disciples, that Mary Magdalene came forward and said: "My Lord, we have heard thee say: 'He who hath received the mysteries of the First Mystery and he who hath received the mysteries of the Ineffable, that man towereth over all.' Now, therefore, my Lord, what is the type of the dragon of the outer darkness, and how many are the orders of its chastisements?"

2And Jesus answered and said unto Mary: "The dragon of the outer darkness is an exceedingly great beast whose tail is in its mouth, and it is outside the whole world and surroundeth the whole world.

3"And there are twelve authentic dungeons of chastisement in it, and every dungeon hath a ruler over it, and the face of the rulers is different one from another.

4"And every dungeon hath a door which is turned towards the height, so that the souls which are cast into the outer darkness may enter into it through the door of that dungeon."
