Apocrypha

Gospel of Peter 6

1I, for my part, was sunk in affliction together with my friends, and, wounded in the depths of our souls, we remained hidden, for we were regarded as malefactors.

2Because of all things, we fasted and remained seated, mourning and weeping night and day until the Sabbath.

3Meanwhile, the scribes, the Pharisees and the elders, gathered together, when they heard that the people were murmuring and beating their breasts saying: 'When he died, such astonishing signs occurred', fled out of fear.

4And they went to Pilate's presence in a tone of supplication, saying: 'Give us soldiers to guard the sepulcher for three days, for it may happen that his disciples come, remove his body and the people come to believe that he has risen from the dead.'
