Apocrypha · Chapter 14 of 21

Epistle of Barnabas 14

Apostolic Teaching

Yes, but let us see if the covenant, which he swore to the fathers to give to the people, was given.

2He gave it, but they were not worthy to receive it because of their sins.

3For the prophet says: And Moses was fasting on Mount Sinai forty days and forty nights.

4To receive the covenant of the Lord for the people.

5And Moses received from the Lord the two tablets written by the finger of the hand of the Lord in spirit.

6And Moses took them and brought them down to give to the people.

7But the Lord said to Moses: Moses, Moses, go down quickly.

8For your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, has practiced lawlessness.
