Letter to the Corinthians

To these men of holy life was gathered a great multitude of the elect.

2Who through envy suffered many outrages and tortures and became excellent examples among us.

3Through envy, women were persecuted, Danaids and Dirces, suffering cruel and impious punishments.

4Having run with firmness the race of faith, they received a noble prize, though weak in body.
