The Shepherd of Hermas 24

Visions and Mandates

He said: I am the shepherd to whom you were delivered. While he was still speaking, his appearance changed, and I recognized him as the one to whom I was delivered.

2Immediately I was confused, and fear took me, and I was completely devastated with sadness for having answered him so badly and foolishly.

3But he answered and said: Do not be confused, but be strengthened by the commandments I am about to give you. For I was sent, he said, to show you again all that you saw before.

4Mainly the things that are useful to you. First of all, write down my commandments and parables.
