Seraphim

“The burning ones” — those who blaze before the throne.

They appear in Isaiah's vision: six wings, crying “Holy, Holy, Holy”. The root saraf means to burn. One of them touches the prophet's lips with a coal from the altar, purifying his speech before he is sent.
