Cherubim

Winged beings who guard what is holy.

They guard the entrance to Eden with the flaming sword, cover the mercy seat of the Ark with their wings and uphold the throne in Ezekiel's vision. They bear nothing of the Renaissance image of winged infants: they are imposing figures, with multiple faces.
