Elohim

The generic name of God, grammatically plural.

It appears more than 2,500 times in the Hebrew Bible. The plural is usually read as a “plural of majesty”, but in some texts it also designates heavenly beings in general, as in Psalm 82. It is the term used in the first verse of Genesis.
