Apocrypha · Chapter 4 of 7

Apocalypse of Esdras 4

Prophetic Visions

When you offer to me, I will turn my face from you.

2Because I have rejected your feast days, your new moons and the circumcisions of the flesh.

3I sent you my servants, the prophets, but you seized them and killed them.

4And you tore apart their bodies, whose death I will require from your hands, says the Lord.

5Thus says the Lord Almighty: Your house is desolate.

6I will cast you out as the wind drives the chaff.

7And your children shall have no offspring, because they despised my commandment.

8And they did what is evil in my sight.

9I will deliver your houses to a people that will come.

10Those who did not hear me will believe; those who did not see signs will believe.

11Those who did not see the prophets will remember their past deeds.

12I testify to the gratitude of the people that is to come, whose children rejoice with joy.

13Although they do not see me with physical eyes, in spirit they will believe in the things I have said.
