Gospel of Nicodemus 1

I, Ananias, protector, of praetorian rank, expert in laws, came through the divine Scriptures to learn of Our Lord Jesus Christ and drew near to him through faith.

Peace to the readers, to the hearers and to their servants. Amen.

All that Nicodemus narrated based on the torment of the cross and the passion of the Lord, he transmitted to the chief priests.

After the chief priests and the scribes had assembled in council, Annas and Caiaphas and others presented themselves before Pilate accusing Jesus of many deeds.

Saying: 'We know that he is the son of Joseph the carpenter and that he was born of Mary, and he calls himself the Son of God and king; moreover he profanes the Sabbath.'

Pilate said: 'And what does he do and what does he intend to abolish?' The Jews said: 'We have a law that forbids healing on the Sabbath; for this man heals the lame, the blind, the paralyzed and the possessed.'

Pilate said: 'If he honestly performs his healings, he does no wrong.'
