Testamento de Jó 6

1E imediatamente minha esposa chegou perto de mim e chorando alto e chorando, ela disse: "Jó! Jó! Até quando você ficará sentado no monte de esterco fora da cidade, ponderando ainda por um tempo e esperando obter a tão esperada salvação!"

1And immediately my wife came near me and crying aloud and weeping she said: "Job! Job! How long wilt thou sit upon the dung-hill outside of the city, pondering yet for a while and expecting to obtain your hoped-for salvation!"

2E eu tenho vagado de um lugar para outro, vagando como um servo contratado, eis que tua memória já desapareceu da terra.

2And I have been wandering from place to place, roaming about as a hired servant, behold thy memory has already died away from earth.

3E meus filhos e filhas que carreguei no peito e os trabalhos e dores que sofri foram em vão

3And my sons and the daughters that I carried on my bosom and the labors and pains that I sustained have been for nothing

4E você fica sentado no malcheiroso estado de dor e vermes, passando as noites no ar frio.

4And thou sittest in the malodorous state of soreness and worms, passing the nights in the cold air.

5E passei por todas as provações, problemas e dores, dia e noite, até conseguir trazer pão para você.

5And I have undergone all trials and troubles and pains, day and night until I succeeded in bringing bread to thee.

6Pois o teu excedente de pão já não me é permitido; e como mal consigo pegar minha própria comida e dividi-la entre nós, ponderei em meu coração que não era certo que você estivesse com dor e com fome de pão.

6For your surplus of bread is no longer allowed to me; and as I can scarcely take my own food and divide it between us, I pondered in my heart that it was not right that thou shouldst be in pain and hunger for bread.

7E então aventurei-me a ir ao mercado sem timidez, e quando o vendedor de pão me disse: “Dá-me dinheiro e terás pão”, revelei-lhe o nosso estado de angústia.

7And so I ventured to go to the market without bashfulness, and when the bread-seller told me: "Give me money. and thou shalt have bread’’. I disclosed to him our state of distress.

8Então eu o ouvi dizer: “Se você não tem dinheiro, dê-me os cabelos da sua cabeça e pegue três pães para que vocês possam viver com eles por três dias”.

8Then I heard him say: "If thou hast no money, hand me the hair of thy head, and take three loaves of bread in order that ye may live on these for three days’’.

9E eu cedi ao erro e disse-lhe: “Levanta-te e corta-me o cabelo!”, e ele levantou-se e, em desgraça, cortou com a tesoura o cabelo da minha cabeça no mercado enquanto a multidão estava ali e admirava-se.

9And I yielded to the wrong and said to him: "Rise and cut off my hair!’’, and he rose and in disgrace cut off with the scissors the hair of my head on the market place while the crowd stood by and wondered.

10Quem então não ficaria surpreso ao dizer: “É esta Sitis, a esposa de Jó, que tinha quatorze cortinas para cobrir sua sala de estar interna, e portas dentro de portas, para que fosse muito honrado aquele que fosse trazido para perto dela, e agora eis que ela troca seu cabelo por pão!

10Who would then not be astonished saying: "Is this Sitis, the wife of Job, who had fourteen curtains to cover her inner sitting room, and doors within doors so that he was greatly honored who would be brought near her, and now behold, she barters off her hair for bread!

11Quem tinha camelos carregados de mercadorias. e eles foram levados para terras remotas para os pobres, e agora ela vende o cabelo por pão!

11Who had camels laden with goods. and they were brought into remote lands to the poor, and now she sells her hair for bread!

12Eis aquela que tinha sete mesas fixamente postas em sua casa, nas quais cada homem pobre e cada estranho comiam, e agora ela vende seu cabelo por pão!

12Behold her who had seven tables immovably set in her house at which each poor man and each stranger ate, and now she sells her hair for bread!

13Eis aquela que tinha a bacia para lavar os pés feita de ouro e prata, e agora ela anda pelo chão e [vende o cabelo por pão!]

13Behold her who had the basin wherewith to wash her feet made of gold and silver, and now she walks upon the ground and [sells her hair for bread!]

14Eis aquela que tinha suas vestes feitas de bisso entrelaçado com ouro, e agora ela troca seus cabelos por pão!

14Behold her who had her garments made of byssus interwoven with gold, and now she exchanges her hair for bread!

15Eis aquela que tinha sofás de ouro e de prata, e agora vende seus cabelos por pão!"

15Behold her who had couches of gold and of silver, and now she sells her hair for bread!"

16Em suma, então, Jó, depois de muitas coisas que me foram ditas, agora te digo uma palavra:

16In short then, Job, after the many things that have been said to me, I now say in one word to thee:

17“Já que a fraqueza do meu coração esmagou meus ossos, levante-se então e pegue estes pães e saboreie-os, e então diga alguma palavra contra o Senhor e morra!

17"Since the feebleness of my heart has crushed my bones, rise then and take these loaves of bread and enjoy them, and then speak some word against the Lord and die!

18Pois eu também trocaria o torpor da morte pelo sustento do meu corpo”.

18For I too, would exchange the torpor of death for the sustenance of my body".

19Mas eu respondi a ela: “Eis que durante estes sete anos estive assolado pela peste, e suportei os vermes do meu corpo, e não fiquei oprimido em minha alma por todas essas dores.

19But I replied to her: "Behold I have been for these seven years plague-stricken, and I have stood the worms of my body, and I was not weighed down in my soul by all these pains.

20E quanto à palavra que dizes: ‘Fala alguma palavra contra Deus e morre!’, juntamente contigo sustentarei o mal que vês. e suportemos a ruína de tudo o que temos.

20And as to the word which thou sayest: ‘Speak some word against God and die!‘, together with thee I will sustain the evil which thou seest. and let us endure the ruin of all that we have.

21No entanto, tu desejas que digamos alguma palavra contra Deus e que Ele seja trocado pelo grande Plutão [o deus do mundo inferior].

21Yet thou desirest that we should say some word against God and that He should be exchanged for the great Pluto [the god of the nether world.]

22Por que você não se lembra daqueles grandes bens que possuímos? Se esses bens vêm das mãos do Senhor, não deveríamos também suportar os males e ser altivos em tudo, até que o Senhor novamente tenha misericórdia e tenha piedade de nós?

22Why dost thou not remember those great goods which we possessed? If these goods come from the hands of the Lord, should not we also endure evils and be high-minded in everything until the Lord will have mercy again and show pity to us?

23Você não vê o Sedutor atrás de você e confunde seus pensamentos para que você possa me enganar?

23Dost thou not see the Seducer stand behind thee and confound thy thoughts in order that thou shouldst beguile me?

24E ele se voltou para Satanás e disse: "Por que você não vem abertamente a mim? Pare de se esconder, miserável,

24And he turned to Satan and said: "Why dost thou not come openly to me? Stop hiding thyself thou wretched one,

25O leão mostra sua força na jaula da doninha? Ou o pássaro voa na cesta? Eu agora te digo: Vá embora e faça guerra contra mim”.

25Does the lion show his strength in the weasel cage? Or does the bird fly in the basket? I now tell thee: Go away and wage thy war against me".

26Então ele saiu de trás de minha esposa e colocou-se diante de mim chorando e disse: Eis, Jó, eu me rendo e dou lugar a ti que és apenas carne enquanto eu sou um espírito.

26Then he went off from behind my wife and placed himself before me crying and he said: Behold, Job, I yield and give way to thee who art but flesh while I am a spirit.

27Você está assolado pela peste, mas eu estou em grandes apuros.

27Thou art plague-stricken, but I am in great trouble.

28Pois sou como um lutador competindo com um lutador que, num combate sozinho, derrubou seu antagonista e o cobriu de poeira e quebrou todos os seus membros, enquanto o outro que está abaixo, tendo demonstrado sua bravura, emite sons de triunfo testemunhando sua própria excelência superior.

28For I am like a wrestler contesting with a wrestler who has, in a single-handed combat, torn down his antagonist and covered him with dust and broken every limb of his, whereas the other one who lies beneath, having displayed his bravery, gives forth sounds of triumph testifying to his own superior excellence.

29Assim tu, ó Jó, estás abatido e atingido pela praga e pela dor, e ainda assim levaste a vitória na luta comigo, e eis que eu me rendo a ti”.

29Thus thou, O Job, art beneath and stricken with plague and pain, and yet thou hast carried the victory in the wrestling-match with me, and behold, I yield to thee".

30Então ele me deixou envergonhado.

30Then he left me abashed.

31Agora, meus filhos, mostrem vocês também um coração firme em todo o mal que lhes acontece, pois maior que todas as coisas é a firmeza de coração.

31Now my children, do you also show a firm heart in all the evil that happens to you, for greater than all things is firmness of heart.
