Testamento de Abraão 11

1Então Miguel virou a carruagem e trouxe Abraão para o leste, para o primeiro portão do céu; e Abraão viu dois caminhos, um estreito e estreito, o outro largo e espaçoso, e ali ele viu duas portas, uma larga no caminho largo, e a outra estreita no caminho estreito.

1So Michael turned the chariot and brought Abraham to the east, to the first gate of heaven; and Abraham saw two ways, the one narrow and contracted, the other broad and spacious, and there he saw two gates, the one broad on the broad way, and the other narrow on the narrow way.

2E fora dos dois portões ele viu um homem sentado em um trono dourado, e a aparência daquele homem era terrível, como se fosse do Senhor.

2And outside the two gates there he saw a man sitting upon a gilded throne, and the appearance of that man was terrible, as of the Lord.

3E viram muitas almas conduzidas pelos anjos e conduzidas pela porta larga, e outras almas, poucas em número, que foram levadas pelos anjos pela porta estreita.

3And they saw many souls driven by angels and led in through the broad gate, and other souls, few in number, that were taken by the angels through the narrow gate.

4E quando o maravilhoso que estava sentado no trono de ouro viu poucos entrando pela porta estreita, e muitos entrando pela porta larga, imediatamente aquele maravilhoso arrancou os cabelos de sua cabeça e os lados de sua barba, e se jogou no chão de seu trono, chorando e lamentando.

4And when the wonderful one who sat upon the golden throne saw few entering through the narrow gate, and many entering through the broad one, straightway that wonderful one tore the hairs of his head and the sides of his beard, and threw himself on the ground from his throne, weeping and lamenting.

5Mas quando ele viu muitas almas entrando pela porta estreita, então ele se levantou do chão e sentou-se em seu trono com grande alegria, regozijando-se e exultando.

5But when he saw many souls entering through the narrow gate, then he arose from the ground and sat upon his throne in great joy, rejoicing and exulting.

6E Abraão perguntou ao capitão-chefe, meu Senhor capitão-chefe, quem é este homem maravilhoso, adornado com tal glória, e às vezes ele chora e lamenta, e às vezes ele se alegra e exulta?

6And Abraham asked the chief-captain, My Lord chief-captain, who is this most marvelous man, adorned with such glory, and sometimes he weeps and laments, and sometimes he rejoices and exults?

7O incorpóreo disse: Este é o primeiro Adão criado que está em tal glória, e ele olha para o mundo porque todos nascem dele, e quando ele vê muitas almas passando pela porta estreita, então ele se levanta e se senta em seu trono regozijando-se e exultando de alegria, porque esta porta estreita é a dos justos, que conduz à vida, e aqueles que entram por ela vão para o Paraíso.

7The incorporeal one said: This is the first-created Adam who is in such glory, and he looks upon the world because all are born from him, and when he sees many souls going through the narrow gate, then he arises and sits upon his throne rejoicing and exulting in joy, because this narrow gate is that of the just, that leads to life, and they that enter through it go into Paradise.

8Por isso, então, o primeiro criado Adão se alegra, porque vê as almas sendo salvas. Mas quando ele vê muitas almas entrando pela porta larga, então ele arranca os cabelos da sua cabeça, e se joga no chão chorando e lamentando amargamente, pois a porta larga é a dos pecadores, que leva à destruição e ao castigo eterno.

8For this, then, the first-created Adam rejoices, because he sees the souls being saved. But when he sees many souls entering through the broad gate, then he pulls out the hairs of his head, and casts himself on the ground weeping and lamenting bitterly, for the broad gate is that of sinners, which leads to destruction and eternal punishment.

9E por isso o primeiro Adão cai de seu trono chorando e lamentando pela destruição dos pecadores, pois são muitos os que estão perdidos, e são poucos os que são salvos, pois em sete mil dificilmente se encontra uma alma salva, sendo justa e imaculada.

9And for this the first-formed Adam falls from his throne weeping and lamenting for the destruction of sinners, for they are many that are lost, and they are few that are saved, for in seven thousand there is scarcely found one soul saved, being righteous and undefiled.
