Septuaginta (LXX) 4

1E Adão conheceu Eva sua mulher, e ela concebeu e deu à luz a Caim, e disse: Adquiri um homem através de Deus.

1And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and brought forth Cain and said, I have gained a man through God.

2E ela deu à luz ainda a seu irmão Abel. E foi Abel pastor de ovelhas, mas Caim era lavrador da terra.

2And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3E aconteceu depois de alguns dias que Caim trouxe dos frutos da terra um sacrifício ao Senhor.

3And it was so after some time that Cain brought of the fruits of the earth a sacrifice to the Lord.

4E Abel também trouxe dos primogênitos das suas ovelhas e da sua gordura. E olhou Deus para Abel e para as suas ofertas,

4And Abel also brought of the firstborn of his sheep and of his fatlings, and God looked upon Abel and his gifts,

5Mas para Caim e para os seus sacrifícios não atentou; e Caim entristeceu-se muito, e o seu semblante caiu.

5but Cain and his sacrifices he regarded not, and Cain was exceedingly sorrowful and his countenance fell.

6E disse o Senhor Deus a Caim: Por que ficaste muito triste, e por que caiu o teu semblante?

6And the Lord God said to Cain, Why art thou become very sorrowful and why is thy countenance fallen?

7Se trouxeres corretamente, mas não dividires corretamente, não pecaste? Aquieta-te; para ti será o seu retorno, e tu o dominarás.

7Hast thou not sinned if thou hast brought it rightly, but not rightly divided it? be still, to thee shall be his submission, and thou shalt rule over him.

8E disse Caim a Abel seu irmão: Vamos ao campo. E aconteceu que, quando estavam no campo, Caim se levantou contra Abel seu irmão, e o matou.

8And Cain said to Abel his brother, Let us go out into the plain; and it came to pass that when they were in the plain Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9E disse o Senhor Deus a Caim: Onde está Abel teu irmão? E ele disse: Não sei; sou eu guardador de meu irmão?

9And the Lord God said to Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? and he said, I know not, am I my brother's keeper?

10E disse Deus: Que fizeste? A voz do sangue de teu irmão clama a mim desde a terra.

10And the Lord said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood cries to me out of the ground.

11E agora maldito és tu sobre a terra, que abriu a sua boca para receber o sangue de teu irmão da tua mão.

11And now thou art cursed from the earth which has opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand.

12Quando lavrares a terra, não te dará mais a sua força; gemendo e tremendo estarás sobre a terra.

12When thou tillest the earth, then it shall not continue to give its strength to thee: thou shalt be groaning and trembling on the earth.

13E disse Caim ao Senhor Deus: Minha culpa é grande demais para ser perdoada.

13And Cain said to the Lord God, My crime is too great for me to be forgiven.

14Eis que me lanças hoje da face da terra, e da tua face me esconderei; e serei gemendo e tremendo sobre a terra; e acontecerá que qualquer que me achar me matará.

14If thou castest me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from thy presence, and I shall be groaning and trembling upon the earth, then it will be that any one that finds me shall slay me.

15E disse-lhe o Senhor Deus: Não assim; todo aquele que matar a Caim, sete vezes será punido. E pôs o Senhor Deus um sinal em Caim, para que ninguém que o achasse o matasse.

15And the Lord God said to him, Not so, any one that slays Cain shall suffer seven-fold vengeance; and the Lord God set a mark upon Cain that no one that found him might slay him.

16E saiu Caim da face de Deus, e habitou na terra de Node, defronte do Éden.

16So Cain went forth from the presence of God and dwelt in the land of Nod over against Edem.

17E conheceu Caim a sua mulher, e tendo concebido, ela deu à luz a Enoque; e ele edificou uma cidade, e chamou o nome da cidade pelo nome do seu filho, Enoque.

17And Cain knew his wife, and having conceived she bore Enoch; and he built a city; and he named the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

18E a Enoque nasceu Gaidade; e Gaidade gerou a Maleleel; e Maleleel gerou a Matusalém; e Matusalém gerou a Lameque.

18And to Enoch was born Gaidad; and Gaidad begot Maleleel; and Maleleel begot Mathusala; and Mathusala begot Lamech.

19E tomou Lameque para si duas mulheres; o nome de uma era Ada, e o nome da segunda, Sela.

19And Lamech took to himself two wives; the name of the one was Ada, and the name of the second Sella.

20E Ada deu à luz a Jobel; este foi o pai dos que habitam em tendas, apascentando gado.

20And Ada bore Jobel; he was the father of those that dwell in tents, feeding cattle.

21E o nome do seu irmão era Jubal; foi ele quem inventou o saltério e a harpa.

21And the name of his brother was Jubal; he it was who invented the psaltery and harp.

22E Sela também deu à luz a Tobel; este foi ferreiro, fabricante de bronze e ferro; e a irmã de Tobel era Noema.

22And Sella also bore Thobel; he was a smith, a manufacturer both of brass and iron; and the sister of Thobel was Noëma.

23E disse Lameque às suas mulheres, Ada e Sela: Ouvi a minha voz, mulheres de Lameque, considerai as minhas palavras, porque matei um homem para minha dor, e um jovem para meu pesar.

23And Lamech said to his wives, Ada and Sella, Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, consider my words, because I have slain a man to my sorrow and a youth to my grief.

24Porque sete vezes foi exigida vingança por Caim, por Lameque será setenta vezes sete.

24Because vengeance has been exacted seven times on Cain's behalf, on Lamech's it shall be seventy times seven.

25E conheceu Adão a Eva sua mulher, e ela concebeu e deu à luz um filho, e chamou o seu nome Sete, dizendo: Porque Deus me suscitou outra semente em lugar de Abel, a quem Caim matou.

25And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore a son, and called his name Seth, saying, For God has raised up to me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26E teve Sete um filho, e chamou o seu nome Enos; este esperou invocar o nome do Senhor Deus.

26And Seth had a son, and he called his name Enos: he hoped to call on the name of the Lord God.
