1O Relatório de Pilatos, o Procurador, sobre Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

1The Report of Pilate the Procurator Concerning Our Lord Jesus Christ.

4Naqueles dias, tendo nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo sido crucificado sob Pôncio Pilatos, procurador da Palestina e da Fenícia, esses registros foram feitos em Jerusalém sobre o que foi feito pelos judeus contra o Senhor.

4In those days, our Lord Jesus Christ having been crucified under Pontius Pilate, procurator of Palestine and Phoenicia, these records were made in Jerusalem as to what was done by the Jews against the Lord.

5Pilatos, portanto, junto com seu relatório particular, enviou-os ao César em Roma, escrevendo assim: - Ao mais poderoso, venerável, mais divino e mais terrível, o augusto César, Pilatos, o governador do Oriente, envia saudações.

5Pilate therefore, along with his private report, sent them to the Caesar in Rome, writing thus:— To the most mighty, venerable, most divine, and most terrible, the august Caesar, Pilate the governor of the East sends greeting.

6Eu tenho, ó poderoso, uma narrativa para te contar, por causa da qual sou tomado de medo e tremor.

6I have, O most mighty, a narrative to give thee, on account of which I am seized with fear and trembling.

7Pois neste meu governo, do qual uma das cidades se chama Jerusalém, todo o povo dos judeus me entregou um homem chamado Jesus, trazendo contra ele muitas acusações, das quais não conseguiram condená-lo pela consistência de suas provas.

7For in this government of mine, of which one of the cities is called Jerusalem, all the people of the Jews have delivered to me a man named Jesus, bringing many charges against him, which they were not able to convict him of by the consistency of their evidence.

8E uma das heresias que tinham contra ele era que Jesus disse que o sábado deles não deveria ser um dia de lazer e não deveria ser observado.

8And one of the heresies they had against him was, that Jesus said that their Sabbath should not be a day of leisure, and should not be observed.

9Pois ele realizou muitas curas naquele dia: fez os cegos recuperarem a visão, os coxos andarem; ressuscitou os mortos, purificou os leprosos; ele curou paralíticos que não eram capazes de fazer nenhum movimento do corpo, ou de manter os nervos firmes, mas que tinham apenas a fala e a modulação da voz, e deu-lhes o poder de andar e correr, eliminando sua doença com uma única palavra.

9For he performed many cures on that day: he made the blind receive their sight, the lame walk; he raised up the dead, he cleansed the lepers; he healed paralytics that were not at all able to make any movement of their body, or to keep their nerves steady, but who had only speech and the modulation of their voice, and he gave them the power of walking and running, removing their illness by a single word.

10Outra coisa ainda, mais poderosa ainda, que é estranha até para os nossos deuses: ele ressuscitou um que estava morto há quatro dias, convocando-o com uma única palavra, quando o morto teve seu sangue corrompido, e quando seu corpo foi destruído pelos vermes nele produzidos, e quando ele tinha cheiro de cachorro.

10Another thing again, more powerful still, which is strange even with our gods: he raised up one that had been dead four days, summoning him by a single word, when the dead man had his blood corrupted, and when his body was destroyed by the worms produced in it, and when it had the stink of a dog.

11E vendo-o deitado no túmulo, ordenou-lhe que corresse.

11And seeing him lying in the tomb, he ordered him to run.

12Ele também não tinha nada de cadáver; mas como um noivo que sai da câmara nupcial, ele saiu do túmulo cheio de uma fragrância muito grande.

12Nor had he anything of a dead body about him at all; but as a bridegroom from the bridal chamber, so he came forth from the tomb filled with very great fragrance.

13E estrangeiros que eram manifestamente demoníacos, e que viviam em desertos, e comiam sua própria carne, vivendo como animais e coisas rastejantes, mesmo estes ele fez morar em cidades, e por sua palavra os restaurou ao bom juízo, e os tornou sábios, capazes e respeitáveis, comendo com todos os inimigos dos espíritos imundos que habitavam neles para sua destruição, que ele lançou nas profundezas do mar.

13And strangers that were manifestly demoniac, and that had their dwelling in deserts, and ate their own flesh, living like beasts and creeping things, even these he made to be dwellers in cities, and by his word restored them to soundness of mind, and rendered them wise and able and reputable, eating with all the enemies of the unclean spirits that dwelt in them for their destruction, which he cast down into the depths of the sea.

14E novamente houve outro que tinha uma mão atrofiada; e não apenas a mão, mas sim a metade do corpo do homem, ficou petrificada, de modo que ele não tinha a forma de um homem, nem o poder de mover seu corpo.

14And again there was another having a withered hand; and not the hand only, but rather the half of the body of the man, was petrified, so that he had not the form of a man, or the power of moving his body.

15E ele com uma palavra o curou e fez som.

15And him by a word he healed, and made sound.

16E uma mulher que tinha um fluxo de sangue há muitos anos, e cujas articulações e veias eram drenadas pelo fluxo do sangue, de modo que ela não apresentava a aparência de um ser humano, mas era como um cadáver, e ficava muda todos os dias, de modo que todos os médicos do distrito não podiam curá-la.

16And a woman that had an issue of blood for many years, and whose joints and veins were drained by the flowing of the blood, so that she did not present the appearance of a human being, but was like a corpse, and was speechless every day, so that all the physicians of the district could not cure her.

17Pois não havia mais esperança de vida para ela.

17For there was not any hope of life left to her.

18E quando Jesus passou, ela misteriosamente recebeu força através da sombra dele; e ela segurou a franja dele por trás, e imediatamente na mesma hora o poder preencheu o que nela estava vazio, de modo que, não sentindo mais nenhuma dor, ela começou a correr rapidamente para sua própria cidade, Kefarnaum, de modo a completar a viagem em seis dias.

18And when Jesus passed by, she mysteriously received strength through his overshadowing her; and she took hold of his fringe behind, and immediately in the same hour power filled up what in her was empty, so that, no longer suffering any pain, she began to run swiftly to her own city Kepharnaum, so as to accomplish the journey in six days.

19E estas são as coisas que ultimamente tive em mente para relatar, que Jesus realizou no sábado.

19And these are the things which I lately had in my mind to report, which Jesus accomplished on the Sabbath.

20E ele fez outros sinais maiores do que estes, de modo que percebi que as obras maravilhosas feitas por ele são maiores do que podem ser feitas pelos deuses a quem adoramos.

20And other signs greater than these he did, so that I have perceived that the wonderful works done by him are greater than can be done by the gods whom we worship.

21E este Herodes, e Arquelau, e Filipe, Anás e Caifás, com todo o povo, me entregaram, fazendo contra mim grande alvoroço, para que eu o julgasse.

21And him Herod and Archelaus and Philip, Annas and Caiaphas, with all the people, delivered to me, making a great uproar against me that I should try him.

22Portanto, ordenei que ele fosse crucificado, depois de tê-lo açoitado e não tendo encontrado contra ele nenhuma causa para acusações ou ações malignas.

22I therefore ordered him to be crucified, having first scourged him, and having found against him no cause of evil accusations or deeds.

23E no momento em que foi crucificado havia trevas sobre todo o mundo, o sol escurecendo ao meio-dia, e as estrelas aparecendo, mas nelas não apareceu nenhum brilho; e a lua, como se transformada em sangue, falhou em sua luz.

23And at the time he was crucified there was darkness over all the world, the sun being darkened at mid-day, and the stars appearing, but in them there appeared no lustre; and the moon, as if turned into blood, failed in her light.

24E o mundo foi engolido pelas regiões inferiores, de modo que o próprio santuário do templo, como o chamam, não pôde ser visto pelos judeus em sua queda; e eles viram abaixo deles um abismo na terra, com o estrondo dos trovões que caíam sobre ele.

24And the world was swallowed up by the lower regions, so that the very sanctuary of the temple, as they call it, could not be seen by the Jews in their fall; and they saw below them a chasm of the earth, with the roar of the thunders that fell upon it.

25E nesse terror foram vistos homens mortos que haviam ressuscitado, como os próprios judeus testemunharam; e eles disseram que foram Abraão, e Isaque, e Jacó, e os doze patriarcas, e Moisés e Jó, que haviam morrido, como dizem, três mil e quinhentos anos antes.

25And in that terror dead men were seen that had risen, as the Jews themselves testified; and they said that it was Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the twelve patriarchs, and Moses and Job, that had died, as they say, three thousand five hundred years before.

26E foram muitos os que também vi aparecer em corpo; e eles lamentavam os judeus, por causa da maldade que havia acontecido com eles e da destruição dos judeus e de sua lei.

26And there were very many whom I also saw appearing in the body; and they were making a lamentation about the Jews, on account of the wickedness that had come to pass through them, and the destruction of the Jews and of their law.

27E o medo do terremoto permaneceu desde a hora sexta da preparação até a hora nona.

27And the fear of the earthquake remained from the sixth hour of the preparation until the ninth hour.

28E na noite do primeiro dia da semana veio do céu um som, de modo que o céu ficou iluminado sete vezes mais do que todos os dias.

28And on the evening of the first day of the week there was a sound out of the heaven, so that the heaven became enlightened sevenfold more than all the days.

29E na terceira hora da noite também o sol foi visto mais brilhante do que jamais havia brilhado antes, iluminando todo o céu.

29And at the third hour of the night also the sun was seen brighter than it had ever shone before, lighting up all the heaven.

30E como os relâmpagos chegam repentinamente no inverno, homens tão majestosos apareceram em vestes gloriosas, uma multidão incontável, cuja voz foi ouvida como a de um grande trovão, clamando: Jesus que foi crucificado ressuscitou: subi do Hades, vós que fostes escravizados nas regiões subterrâneas do Hades.

30And as lightnings come suddenly in winter, so majestic men appeared in glorious robes, an innumerable multitude, whose voice was heard as that of a very great thunder, crying out: Jesus that was crucified is risen: come up out of Hades, ye that have been enslaved in the underground regions of Hades.

31E o abismo da terra era como se não tivesse fundo; mas foi como se os próprios fundamentos da terra aparecessem junto com aqueles que clamavam nos céus, e andassem no corpo no meio dos mortos que haviam ressuscitado.

31And the chasm of the earth was as if it had no bottom; but it was as if the very foundations of the earth appeared along with those that cried out in the heavens, and walked about in the body in the midst of the dead that had risen.

32E aquele que ressuscitou todos os mortos e amarrou o Hades disse: Dizei aos meus discípulos: Ele vai adiante de vós para a Galiléia; lá você o verá.

32And he that raised up all the dead, and bound Hades, said: Say to my disciples, He goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him.

33E durante toda aquela noite a luz não deixou de brilhar.

33And all that night the light did not cease shining.

34E muitos dos judeus morreram, engolidos pelo abismo da terra, de modo que no dia seguinte a maioria dos que estavam contra Jesus não puderam ser encontrados.

34And many of the Jews died, swallowed up in the chasm of the earth, so that on the following day most of those who had been against Jesus could not be found.

35Outros viram o aparecimento daqueles que haviam ressuscitado, que nenhum de nós jamais tinha visto.

35Others saw the appearing of those that had risen, whom no one of us had ever seen.

36E só sobrou uma sinagoga dos judeus nesta Jerusalém, já que todas desapareceram naquele outono.

36And only one synagogue of the Jews was left in this Jerusalem, since all disappeared in that fall.

37Com esse terror, perplexo e tomado por um tremor terrível, escrevi o que vi naquele momento e relatei a tua majestade.

37With that terror, being in perplexity, and seized with a most frightful trembling, I have written what I saw at that time, and have reported to thy majesty.

38Tendo colocado em ordem também o que foi feito pelos judeus contra Jesus, eu o enviei, meu senhor, à tua divindade.

38Having set in order also what was done by the Jews against Jesus, I have sent it, my lord, to thy divinity.
