Pistis Sophia 30

1E sucedeu que, tendo Jesus dito isto aos seus discípulos, Maria veio à frente e disse: "Senhor meu, ouvi-te dizer outrora: 'Pistis Sophia é ela própria uma das vinte e quatro emanações; como, pois, não está ela na região delas? Mas disseste: Achei-a abaixo do décimo terceiro éon."

1It came to pass then, when Jesus had said this unto his disciples, that Mary came forward and said: "My Lord, I have heard thee say aforetime: 'Pistis Sophia is herself one of the four-and-twenty emanations, how then is she not in their region? But thou hast said: I found her below the thirteenth aeon."

2E respondeu Jesus e disse aos seus discípulos: "Aconteceu que, estando Pistis Sophia no décimo terceiro éon, na região de todos os seus irmãos, os invisíveis, a saber, as vinte e quatro emanações do grande Invisível — aconteceu então por mandado do Primeiro Mistério que Pistis Sophia contemplou as alturas. Ela viu a luz do véu do Tesouro da Luz, e almejou alcançar aquela região, mas não podia atingi-la. Contudo, cessou de cumprir o mistério do décimo terceiro éon, e cantava louvores à luz do alto, a qual havia visto na luz do véu do Tesouro da Luz.

2And Jesus answered and said unto his disciples: "It came to pass, when Pistis Sophia was in the thirteenth aeon, in the region of all her brethren the invisibles, that is the four-and-twenty emanations of the great Invisible,--it came to pass then by command of the First Mystery that Pistis Sophia gazed into the height. She saw the light of the veil of the Treasury of the Light, and she longed to reach to that region, and she could not reach to that region. But she ceased to perform the mystery of the thirteenth aeon, and sang praises to the light of the height, which she had seen in the light of the veil of the Treasury of the Light.

3"Aconteceu então que, cantando ela louvores à região do alto, todos os arcontes nos doze éons, que estão abaixo, aborreceram-na, porque havia cessado os seus mistérios e porque desejara subir às alturas e estar acima de todos eles. Por esta causa enfureceram-se contra ela e odiaram-na, como também o fez o grande Soberbo de poder tríplice, que é o terceiro poder tríplice que está no décimo terceiro éon, aquele que se tornara desobediente, porquanto não havia emanado toda a purificação do poder que nele residia, nem dera a purificação da sua luz no tempo em que os arcontes deram a sua purificação, por desejar governar sobre todo o décimo terceiro éon e sobre os que estão abaixo dele.

3"It came to pass then, when she sang praises to the region of the height, that all the rulers in the twelve aeons, who are below, hated her, because she had ceased from their mysteries, and because she had desired to go into the height and be above them all. For this cause then they were enraged against her and hated her, as did the great triple-powered Self-willed, that is the third triple-power, who is in the thirteenth aeon, he who had become disobedient, in as much as he had not emanated the whole purification of his power in him, and had not given the purification of his light at the time when the rulers gave their purification, in that he desired to rule over the whole thirteenth aeon and those who are below it.

4"E sucedeu que, enfurecendo-se os arcontes dos doze éons contra Pistis Sophia, que está acima deles, e odiando-a grandemente, o grande Soberbo de poder tríplice, do qual acabo de falar-vos, uniu-se aos arcontes dos doze éons, e igualmente se indignou contra Pistis Sophia e aborreceu-a em extremo, porque ela tencionara ir para a luz que é mais alta do que ela. E emanou de si mesmo um grande poder com rosto de leão, e da matéria que nele havia fez emanar uma hoste de outras emanações materiais mui violentas, e enviou-as para as regiões inferiores, para as partes do caos, a fim de que ali ficassem de emboscada contra Pistis Sophia e lhe tirassem o seu poder, porquanto ela pensara ir para a altura que está acima de todos eles, e cessara de cumprir o mistério deles, lamentando continuamente e buscando a luz que contemplara. E os arcontes que perseveravam em praticar o mistério odiaram-na, e todos os guardas que estão às portas dos éons odiaram-na também. Sucedeu depois disto, por mandado do Primeiro Mandamento, que o grande Soberbo de poder tríplice perseguiu Sophia no décimo terceiro éon, para que ela olhasse para as regiões de baixo, a fim de ver naquela região o seu poder de luz com semblante de leão, e se afeiçoasse a ele e fosse para aquele lugar, para que a sua luz lhe fosse tirada."

4"It came to pass then, when the rulers of the twelve aeons were enraged against Pistis Sophia, who is above them, and hated her exceedingly, that the great triple-powered Self-willed, of whom I have just now told you, joined himself to the rulers of the twelve aeons, and also was enraged against Pistis Sophia and hated her exceedingly, because she had thought to go to the light which is higher than her. And he emanated out of himself a great lion-faced power, and out of his matter in him he emanated a host of other very violent material emanations, and sent them into the regions below, to the parts of the chaos, in order that they might there lie in wait for Pistis Sophia and take away her power out of her, because she thought to go to the height which is above them all, and moreover she had ceased to perform their mystery, and lamented continuously and sought after the light which she had seen. And the rulers who abide in performing the mystery, hated her, and all the guards who are at the gates of the aeons, hated her also. It came to pass then thereafter by command of the First Commandment that the great triple-powered Self-willed, who is one of the three triple-powers, pursued Sophia in the thirteenth aeon, in order that she should look towards the parts below, so that she might see in that region his lion-faced light-power and long after it and go to that region, so that her light might be taken from her."
