Fragmentos de Papias e Quadrato 10

1Maria, a mãe do Senhor; Maria, esposa de Cléofas ou Alfeu, que foi a mãe de Tiago, o bispo e apóstolo, de Simão, de Tadeu e de certo José; Maria Salomé, esposa de Zebedeu e mãe do evangelista João e de Tiago; Maria Madalena. Estas quatro encontram-se no Evangelho.

1Mary the mother of the Lord; Mary the wife of Cleophas or Alphaeus, who was the mother of James the bishop and apostle, and of Simon and Thaddaeus, and of one Joseph; Mary Salome, wife of Zebedee, mother of John the evangelist and James; Mary Magdalene. These four are found in the Gospel.

2Tiago, Judas e José eram filhos de uma tia do Senhor; Tiago também e João eram filhos de outra tia do Senhor. Maria, a mãe de Tiago Menor e de José, esposa de Alfeu, era irmã de Maria, a mãe do Senhor, a quem João denomina de Cléofas, quer pelo nome de seu pai, quer pela linhagem da sua família. Maria Salomé é chamada Salomé quer pelo nome de seu esposo, quer por sua aldeia; e alguns afirmam que ela é a mesma que Maria de Cléofas, porquanto teria tido dois maridos.

2James and Judas and Joseph were sons of an aunt of the Lord; James also and John were sons of another aunt of the Lord. Mary the mother of James the Less and Joseph, wife of Alphaeus, was the sister of Mary the mother of the Lord, whom John names of Cleophas, either from her father or from the family of her clan. Mary Salome is called Salome either from her husband or her village; and some affirm that she is the same as Mary of Cleophas, because she had two husbands.
