1O grande Filho do Imortal, afamado em cânticos,

1The great Son of the Immortal famed in song

2Eu do íntimo do coração proclamo, a quem um trono,

2I from the heart proclaim, to whom a throne,

3Para ser conservado firme, o soberano Pai concedeu

3To be held fast the most Father gave

4Antes que fosse gerado; então foi ele exaltado

4Ere, he was brought forth; then was he raised up

5Segundo a carne outorgada, lavado junto à foz

5According to flesh given, washed, at the mouth

6Do rio Jordão, que corre impetuoso

6Of the river Jordan, which goes rushing on

7Arrastando as suas alvas vagas; do fogo

7Trailing its gleaming billows, from the fire

8Escapando, ele primeiro há de ver o suave Espírito de Deus

8Escaping he first shall see God's sweet Spirit

9Descendo com as asas de uma pomba branca.

9Descending with the wings of a white dove.

10E uma pura flor florescerá, e as fontes transbordarão.

10And a pure flower shall bloom, and springs be full.

11E ele mostrará os caminhos aos homens, e manifestará

11And he shall show the ways to men, and show

12As sendas celestes, e a todos ensinará com sábia voz;

12The heavenly paths, and teach all with wise

13E virá para o juízo e persuadirá

13And he shall come for judgement and persuade

14Um povo desobediente, enquanto proclama

14A disobedient people while he boasts

15A sua louvável linhagem vinda de um Pai celestial.

15Descent praiseworthy from a heavenly Sire.

16Ondas calcará aos pés, as enfermidades da humanidade

16Billows shall he tread, sickness of mankind

17Destruirá, ressuscitará os mortos,

17Shall he destroy, he shall raise up the dead,

18E muitos sofrimentos afugentará;

18And many sufferings shall he drive away;

19E de um só alforje saciar-se-ão os homens de pão,

19And from one scrip shall be men's fill of bread,

20Quando a casa de Davi der à luz um menino;

20When the house of David shall bring forth a child;

21E em sua mão estará o mundo inteiro: a terra, o céu, o mar.

21And in his hand the whole world, earth, heaven, sea.

22E ele resplandecerá sobre a terra, tal como outrora

22And he shall flash upon the earth, as once

23Os dois gerados da costela um do outro

23The two begotten from each other's ribs

24Viram a forma humana despontar. Há de ser

24Saw human form appearing. It shall be

25Quando a terra se regozijar na esperança do infante.

25When earth shall be glad in the hope of child.

26Mas para ti somente, terra sodomítica,

26But for thee only, Sodomitic land,

27Estão guardados cruéis ais; pois tu mesma,

27Are evil woes laid up; for thou thyself

28Mal-intencionada, não reconheceste o teu Deus,

28Ill-disposed didst not apprehend thy God

29Que zomba das tramas mortais; mas com um espinho

29Who mocks at mortal schemes; but from a thorn

30O coroaste com uma coroa, e fel medonho

30Didst crown him with a crown, and fearful gall

31Misturaste com insolência e despeito.

31Didst mingle unto insolence and spirit.

32Isto suscitará terríveis males sobre ti.

32This shall bring evil woes about for thee.

33Ó Madeiro, ó quão bem-aventurado, sobre o qual

33O the Wood, O so blessed, upon which

34Deus foi estendido; a terra não te reterá,

34God was outstretched; the earth shall not have thee,

35Mas contemplarás uma morada celestial,

35But thou shalt look upon a heavenly house,

36Quando tu, ó Deus, fizeres resplandecer o teu olho de fogo.

36When thou, O God, shalt flash thine eye of fire.
