1Grande palavra divina ele me ordena cantar de novo —

1GREAT word divine he bids me sing again--

2O Deus santo, imortal, imperecível,

2The immortal holy God imperishable,

3Que dá aos reis seu poder e o retira,

3Who gives to kings their power and takes away,

4E que determinou para eles o tempo de ambos os destinos,

4And who determined for them time both ways,

5Tanto o da vida como o da morte funesta.

5Both that of life and that of baneful death.

6E estas coisas o Deus celeste me ordena

6And these the heavenly God enjoins on me

7A contragosto anunciar aos reis

7Unwilling to bring tidings unto kings

11E Ares impetuoso de lança; e por ele

14E batalhas haverá, e homicídios,

14And battles there shall be, and homicides,

16And mighty thunderbolts, and many ways

17Dos assírios por todo o mundo,

17Of the Assyrians over all the world,

18E pilhagem e roubo de templos.

18And pillaging and robbery of temples.

19E então haverá uma insurreição

19And then an insurrection there shall be

20Dos laboriosos persas, e com eles

20Of the industrious Persians, and with them

21Indianos, armênios e árabes;

21Indians, Armenians, and Arabians;

22E até estes, de novo, um rei romano,

22And unto these again a Roman king

23Insaciável na guerra e conduzindo

23Insatiate in war and leading on

24Seus lanceiros contra os assírios,

24His spearmen against the Assyrians

25Se aproximará, jovem Ares, e até

25Shall draw near, a young Ares, and as far

26O Eufrates prateado de águas profundas

26As the deep-flowing silvery Euphrates

49Destruirão uns aos outros em combates duros.

49Shall one another by hard fights destroy.

50Mas quando um Ares romano destruir

52Triunfando no oceano, então haverá guerra

169When by thy lack of prudence thou shalt fall

171E desnudando-te, assim te deixará,

171And making naked he shall leave thee thus

172Sem cobertura, sem casa; e quando alguém

172Coverless, houseless; and when anyone

173Te vir, de súbito chorará por ti.

213Terá o número setenta, e o outro

213Shall have the number seventy, and the other

214O número três, então o imponente touro,

214The number three, even then the stately bull,

215Que cava a terra com os cascos e levanta

215That digs the earth with his hoofs and stirs up

216The dust with his two horns, shall many ills

217Upon a dark-skinned reptile perpetrate--

219Himself shall perish. And yet after him

220Again shall come another fair-horned stag,

221Hungry upon the mountains, striving hard

222Para alimentar-se das feras que expelem veneno.

222To feed upon the venom-shedding beasts

223Então virá um leão terrível e temível,

223Then shall a dread and fearful lion come,

224Enviado pelo sol e exalando muito fogo.

224Sent from the sun, and breathing forth much flame.

225E então também por sua imprudência desavergonhada

225And then too by his shameless recklessness

226Ele destruirá o veloz cervo de bons chifres,

226Shall he destroy the well-horned rapid stag,

227E a mais poderosa fera que expele veneno,

227And the most mighty venom-shedding beast

228Tão terrível, que emite muitos assobios,

228So dread, that sends forth many piping sounds,

229E o bode que caminha de lado,

229And the he-goat that sideways moves along,

230E depois dele segue a fama; ele próprio,

230And after him fame follows; he himself

231São, ileso, inacessível, governará

231Sound, unhurt, unapproachable, shall rule

232Os romanos, e os persas serão fracos.
