Livro de Jasher 23

1Naquele tempo veio a palavra do Senhor a Abraão, e ele lhe disse: Abraão, e ele disse: Aqui estou.

1At that time the word of the Lord came to Abraham, and he said unto him, Abraham, and he said, Here I am.

2E ele lhe disse: Toma agora o teu filho, o teu único filho, a quem amas, Isaque, e vai à terra de Moriá, e oferece-o ali em holocausto sobre uma das montanhas que te serão mostradas, porque lá verás uma nuvem e a glória do Senhor.

2And he said to him, Take now thy son, thine only son whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which shall be shown to thee, for there wilt thou see a cloud and the glory of the Lord.

3E Abraão disse consigo mesmo: Como separarei meu filho Isaque de Sara, sua mãe, para trazê-lo em holocausto perante o Senhor?

3And Abraham said within himself, How shall I separate my son Isaac from Sarah his mother, in order to bring him up for a burnt offering before the Lord?

4E Abraão entrou na tenda, e sentou-se diante de Sara, sua esposa, e falou-lhe estas palavras:

4And Abraham came into the tent, and he sat before Sarah his wife, and he spoke these words to her,

5Meu filho Isaque é adulto e há algum tempo não estuda o serviço de seu Deus, agora amanhã irei e o trarei a Sem, e a Éber, seu filho, e lá ele aprenderá os caminhos do Senhor, pois eles o ensinarão a conhecer o Senhor, bem como a saber que quando ele orar continuamente diante do Senhor, ele lhe responderá, portanto, lá ele conhecerá a maneira de servir ao Senhor seu Deus.

5My son Isaac is grown up and he has not for some time studied the service of his God, now tomorrow I will go and bring him to Shem, and Eber his son, and there he will learn the ways of the Lord, for they will teach him to know the Lord as well as to know that when he prayeth continually before the Lord, he will answer him, therefore there he will know the way of serving the Lord his God.

6E Sara disse: Tu falaste bem, vai meu senhor e faze-lhe como disseste, mas não o removas para uma grande distância de mim, nem o deixes permanecer lá por muito tempo, pois minha alma está presa dentro de sua alma.

6And Sarah said, Thou hast spoken well, go my lord and do unto him as thou hast said, but remove him not at a great distance from me, neither let him remain there too long, for my soul is bound within his soul.

7E Abraão disse a Sara: Minha filha, oremos ao Senhor nosso Deus para que ele faça o bem conosco.

7And Abraham said unto Sarah, My daughter, let us pray to the Lord our God that he may do good with us.

8E Sara levou seu filho Isaque e ele ficou com ela toda aquela noite, e ela o beijou e abraçou, e lhe deu instruções até de manhã.

8And Sarah took her son Isaac and he abode all that night with her, and she kissed and embraced him, and gave him instructions till morning.

9E ela lhe disse: Ó meu filho, como pode a minha alma separar-se de ti? E ela ainda o beijou e o abraçou, e deu instruções a Abraão a respeito dele.

9And she said to him, O my son, how can my soul separate itself from thee? And she still kissed him and embraced him, and she gave Abraham instructions concerning him.

10E Sara disse a Abraão: Ó meu senhor, peço-te que tomes cuidado de teu filho, e coloques os teus olhos sobre ele, pois não tenho outro filho nem filha além dele.

10And Sarah said to Abraham, O my lord, I pray thee take heed of thy son, and place thine eyes over him, for I have no other son nor daughter but him.

11Ó, não o abandones. Se tiver fome, dê-lhe pão, e se tiver sede, dê-lhe água para beber; não o deixe andar a pé, nem o deixe sentar ao sol.

11O forsake him not. If he be hungry give him bread, and if he be thirsty give him water to drink; do not let him go on foot, neither let him sit in the sun.

12Nem o deixe seguir sozinho pela estrada, nem o force a fazer o que ele desejar, mas faça com ele o que ele lhe disser.

12Neither let him go by himself in the road, neither force him from whatever he may desire, but do unto him as he may say to thee.

13E Sara chorou amargamente a noite toda por causa de Isaque, e deu-lhe instruções até de manhã.

13And Sarah wept bitterly the whole night on account of Isaac, and she gave him instructions till morning.

14E pela manhã Sara escolheu uma roupa muito fina e bonita daquelas que ela tinha em casa, que Abimeleque lhe havia dado.

14And in the morning Sarah selected a very fine and beautiful garment from those garments which she had in the house, that Abimelech had given to her.

15E ela vestiu Isaque, seu filho, com isso, e colocou um turbante na cabeça dele, e colocou uma pedra preciosa no topo do turbante, e deu-lhes provisões para a estrada, e eles saíram, e Isaque foi com seu pai Abraão, e alguns de seus servos os acompanharam para acompanhá-los fora da estrada.

15And she dressed Isaac her son therewith, and she put a turban upon his head, and she enclosed a precious stone in the top of the turban, and she gave them provision for the road, and they went forth, and Isaac went with his father Abraham, and some of their servants accompanied them to see them off the road.

16E Sara saiu com eles, e ela os acompanhou na estrada para se despedir deles, e eles lhe disseram: Volte para a tenda.

16And Sarah went out with them, and she accompanied them upon the road to see them off, and they said to her, Return to the tent.

17E quando Sara ouviu as palavras de seu filho Isaque, ela chorou amargamente, e Abraão, seu marido, chorou com ela, e seu filho chorou com eles um grande choro; também os que iam com eles choraram muito.

17And when Sarah heard the words of her son Isaac she wept bitterly, and Abraham her husband wept with her, and their son wept with them a great weeping; also those who went with them wept greatly.

18E Sara pegou seu filho Isaque, e ela o segurou em seus braços, e ela o abraçou e continuou a chorar com ele, e Sara disse: Quem sabe se depois deste dia eu te verei novamente?

18And Sarah caught hold of her son Isaac, and she held him in her arms, and she embraced him and continued to weep with him, and Sarah said, Who knoweth if after this day I shall ever see thee again?

19E eles ainda choraram juntos, Abraão, Sara e Isaque, e todos aqueles que os acompanharam na estrada choraram com eles, e Sara depois se afastou de seu filho, chorando amargamente, e todos os seus servos e servas retornaram com ela para a tenda.

19And they still wept together, Abraham, Sarah and Isaac, and all those that accompanied them on the road wept with them, and Sarah afterward turned away from her son, weeping bitterly, and all her men servants and maid servants returned with her to the tent.

20E Abraão foi com Isaque, seu filho, para trazê-lo como oferta perante o Senhor, como Ele lhe ordenara.

20And Abraham went with Isaac his son to bring him up as an offering before the Lord, as He had commanded him.

21E Abraão levou consigo dois de seus jovens, Ismael, filho de Hagar, e Eliezer, seu servo, e eles foram juntos com eles, e enquanto caminhavam pela estrada, os jovens disseram estas palavras para si mesmos,

21And Abraham took two of his young men with him, Ishmael the son of Hagar and Eliezer his servant, and they went together with them, and whilst they were walking in the road the young men spoke these words to themselves,

22E Ismael disse a Eliezer: Agora meu pai Abraão vai com Isaque para trazê-lo em holocausto ao Senhor, como Ele lhe ordenou.

22And Ishmael said to Eliezer, Now my father Abraham is going with Isaac to bring him up for a burnt offering to the Lord, as He commanded him.

23Agora, quando ele retornar, ele me dará tudo o que possui, para herdar depois dele, pois sou seu primogênito.

23Now when he returneth he will give unto me all that he possesses, to inherit after him, for I am his first born.

24E Eliezer respondeu a Ismael e disse: Certamente Abraão te rejeitou com tua mãe, e jurou que não herdarias nada de tudo o que ele possui, e a quem ele dará tudo o que tem, com todos os seus tesouros, senão a mim, seu servo, que tem sido fiel em sua casa, que o serviu noite e dia, e fez tudo o que ele me desejou? para mim ele legará na sua morte tudo o que possui.

24And Eliezer answered Ishmael and said, Surely Abraham did cast thee away with thy mother, and swear that thou shouldst not inherit any thing of all he possesses, and to whom will he give all that he has, with all his treasures, but unto me his servant, who has been faithful in his house, who has served him night and day, and has done all that he desired me? to me will he bequeath at his death all that he possesses.

25E enquanto Abraão prosseguia com seu filho Isaque pela estrada, Satanás veio e apareceu a Abraão na figura de um homem muito idoso, humilde e de espírito contrito, e ele se aproximou de Abraão e disse-lhe: És tu tolo ou bruto, que vais fazer isso hoje ao teu único filho?

25And whilst Abraham was proceeding with his son Isaac along the road, Satan came and appeared to Abraham in the figure of a very aged man, humble and of contrite spirit, and he approached Abraham and said to him, Art thou silly or brutish, that thou goest to do this thing this day to thine only son?

26Pois Deus te deu um filho nos teus últimos dias, na tua velhice, e irás matá-lo hoje porque ele não cometeu violência, e farás com que a alma do teu único filho pereça da terra?

26For God gave thee a son in thy latter days, in thy old age, and wilt thou go and slaughter him this day because he committed no violence, and wilt thou cause the soul of thine only son to perish from the earth?

27Você não sabe e não entende que isso não pode vir do Senhor? pois o Senhor não pode fazer ao homem tal mal na terra, a ponto de lhe dizer: Vai matar teu filho.

27Dost thou not know and understand that this thing cannot be from the Lord? for the Lord cannot do unto man such evil upon earth to say to him, Go slaughter thy child.

28E Abraão ouviu isso e sabia que era a palavra de Satanás que tentou desviá-lo do caminho do Senhor, mas Abraão não deu ouvidos à voz de Satanás, e Abraão o repreendeu para que ele fosse embora.

28And Abraham heard this and knew that it was the word of Satan who endeavored to draw him aside from the way of the Lord, but Abraham would not hearken to the voice of Satan, and Abraham rebuked him so that he went away.

29E Satanás voltou e foi até Isaque; e ele apareceu a Isaque na figura de um jovem atraente e bem favorecido.

29And Satan returned and came to Isaac; and he appeared unto Isaac in the figure of a young man comely and well favored.

30E ele se aproximou de Isaque e disse-lhe: Você não sabe e não entende que seu velho e tolo pai o levou hoje ao matadouro por nada?

30And he approached Isaac and said unto him, Dost thou not know and understand that thy old silly father bringeth thee to the slaughter this day for naught?

31Agora, portanto, meu filho, não dê ouvidos nem dê atenção a ele, pois ele é um velho tolo, e não deixe que sua alma preciosa e sua bela figura se percam da terra.

31Now therefore, my son, do not listen nor attend to him, for he is a silly old man, and let not thy precious soul and beautiful figure be lost from the earth.

32E Isaque ouviu isso e disse a Abraão: Ouviste, meu pai, o que este homem falou? mesmo assim ele falou.

32And Isaac heard this, and said unto Abraham, Hast thou heard, my father, that which this man has spoken? even thus has he spoken.

33E Abraão respondeu a seu filho Isaque e disse-lhe: Cuidado com ele e não dê ouvidos às suas palavras, nem dê atenção a ele, pois ele é Satanás, tentando nos afastar hoje dos mandamentos de Deus.

33And Abraham answered his son Isaac and said to him, Take heed of him and do not listen to his words, nor attend to him, for he is Satan, endeavoring to draw us aside this day from the commands of God.

34E Abraão ainda repreendeu Satanás, e Satanás se afastou deles, e vendo que não poderia prevalecer sobre eles, ele se escondeu deles e foi e passou diante deles na estrada; e ele se transformou em um grande riacho de água na estrada, e Abraão e Isaque e seus dois jovens chegaram àquele lugar, e viram um riacho grande e poderoso como as águas poderosas.

34And Abraham still rebuked Satan, and Satan went from them, and seeing he could not prevail over them he hid himself from them, and he went and passed before them in the road; and he transformed himself to a large brook of water in the road, and Abraham and Isaac and his two young men reached that place, and they saw a brook large and powerful as the mighty waters.

35E entraram no riacho e passaram por ele, e as águas a princípio chegaram às suas pernas.

35And they entered the brook and passed through it, and the waters at first reached their legs.

36E eles foram mais fundo no riacho e as águas chegaram até seus pescoços, e todos ficaram aterrorizados por causa da água; e enquanto eles atravessavam o riacho, Abraão reconheceu aquele lugar e sabia que antes não havia água ali.

36And they went deeper in the brook and the waters reached up to their necks, and they were all terrified on account of the water; and whilst they were going over the brook Abraham recognized that place, and he knew that there was no water there before.

37E Abraão disse a seu filho Isaque, eu conheço este lugar onde não havia riacho nem água, agora, portanto, é esse Satanás quem faz tudo isso conosco, para nos afastar hoje dos mandamentos de Deus.

37And Abraham said to his son Isaac, I know this place in which there was no brook nor water, now therefore it is this Satan who does all this to us, to draw us aside this day from the commands of God.

38E Abraão o repreendeu e disse-lhe: O Senhor te repreenda, ó Satanás, afasta-te de nós porque seguimos os mandamentos de Deus.

38And Abraham rebuked him and said unto him, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan, begone from us for we go by the commands of God.

39E Satanás ficou aterrorizado com a voz de Abraão, e ele se afastou deles, e o lugar novamente se tornou terra seca como era no início.

39And Satan was terrified at the voice of Abraham, and he went away from them, and the place again became dry land as it was at first.

40E Abraão foi com Isaque para o lugar que Deus lhe havia indicado.

40And Abraham went with Isaac toward the place that God had told him.

41E no terceiro dia Abraão ergueu os olhos e viu de longe o lugar que Deus lhe havia indicado.

41And on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place at a distance which God had told him of.

42E apareceu-lhe uma coluna de fogo que se estendia da terra ao céu, e uma nuvem de glória sobre a montanha, e a glória do Senhor foi vista na nuvem.

42And a pillar of fire appeared to him that reached from the earth to heaven, and a cloud of glory upon the mountain, and the glory of the Lord was seen in the cloud.

43E Abraão disse a Isaque: Meu filho, tu vês naquele monte, que percebemos à distância, o que eu vejo nele?

43And Abraham said to Isaac, My son, dost thou see in that mountain, which we perceive at a distance, that which I see upon it?

44E Isaque respondeu e disse a seu pai: Vejo e eis uma coluna de fogo e uma nuvem, e a glória do Senhor é vista na nuvem.

44And Isaac answered and said unto his father, I see and lo a pillar of fire and a cloud, and the glory of the Lord is seen upon the cloud.

45E Abraão soube que seu filho Isaque foi aceito diante do Senhor como holocausto.

45And Abraham knew that his son Isaac was accepted before the Lord for a burnt offering.

46E Abraão disse a Eliezer e a Ismael, seu filho: Vocês também veem o que vemos na montanha que está ao longe?

46And Abraham said unto Eliezer and unto Ishmael his son, Do you also see that which we see upon the mountain which is at a distance?

47E eles responderam e disseram: Não vemos nada além das outras montanhas da terra. E Abraão sabia que eles não eram aceitos diante do Senhor para ir com eles, e Abraão lhes disse: Ficai aqui com o jumento enquanto eu e Isaque, meu filho, iremos para aquele monte e adoraremos ali diante do Senhor e depois retornaremos para vocês.

47And they answered and said, We see nothing more than like the other mountains of the earth. And Abraham knew that they were not accepted before the Lord to go with them, and Abraham said to them, Abide ye here with the ass whilst I and Isaac my son will go to yonder mount and worship there before the Lord and then return to you.

48E Eliezer e Ismael permaneceram naquele lugar, como Abraão havia ordenado.

48And Eliezer and Ishmael remained in that place, as Abraham had commanded.

49E Abraão pegou lenha para holocausto e colocou sobre seu filho Isaque, e ele pegou o fogo e a faca, e ambos foram para aquele lugar.

49And Abraham took wood for a burnt offering and placed it upon his son Isaac, and he took the fire and the knife, and they both went to that place.

50E quando eles estavam indo, Isaque disse a seu pai: Eis que vejo aqui o fogo e a lenha, e onde está então o cordeiro que será o holocausto diante do Senhor?

50And when they were going along Isaac said to his father, Behold, I see here the fire and wood, and where then is the lamb that is to be the burnt offering before the Lord?

51E Abraão respondeu a seu filho Isaque, dizendo: O Senhor escolheu a ti, meu filho, para ser um holocausto perfeito em lugar do cordeiro.

51And Abraham answered his son Isaac, saying, The Lord has made choice of thee my son, to be a perfect burnt offering instead of the lamb.

52E Isaque disse a seu pai: Farei tudo o que o Senhor te falou com alegria e alegria de coração.

52And Isaac said unto his father, I will do all that the Lord spoke to thee with joy and cheerfulness of heart.

53E Abraão disse novamente a Isaque, seu filho: Existe em teu coração algum pensamento ou conselho a respeito disso, que não seja apropriado? diga-me, meu filho, peço-te, ó meu filho, não esconda isso de mim.

53And Abraham again said unto Isaac his son, Is there in thy heart any thought or counsel concerning this, which is not proper? tell me my son, I pray thee, O my son conceal it not from me.

54E Isaque respondeu a seu pai Abraão e disse-lhe: Ó meu pai, tão certo como vive o Senhor e como vive a tua alma, não há nada em meu coração que me faça desviar para a direita ou para a esquerda da palavra que ele te falou.

54And Isaac answered his father Abraham and said unto him, O my father, as the Lord liveth and as thy soul liveth, there is nothing in my heart to cause me to deviate either to the right or to the left from the word that he has spoken to thee.

55Nem membro nem músculo se moveram ou se agitaram com isso, nem há em meu coração qualquer pensamento ou conselho maligno a respeito disso.

55Neither limb nor muscle has moved or stirred at this, nor is there in my heart any thought or evil counsel concerning this.

56Mas estou com o coração alegre e alegre neste assunto, e digo: Bendito seja o Senhor que hoje me escolheu para ser um holocausto diante dele.

56But I am of joyful and cheerful heart in this matter, and I say, Blessed is the Lord who has this day chosen me to be a burnt offering before Him.

57E Abraão se alegrou muito com as palavras de Isaque, e eles seguiram e se reuniram para aquele lugar que o Senhor havia falado.

57And Abraham greatly rejoiced at the words of Isaac, and they went on and came together to that place that the Lord had spoken of.

58E Abraão se aproximou para construir o altar naquele lugar, e Abraão estava chorando, e Isaque pegou pedras e argamassa até que terminassem de construir o altar.

58And Abraham approached to build the altar in that place, and Abraham was weeping, and Isaac took stones and mortar until they had finished building the altar.

59E Abraão pegou a lenha e colocou-a em ordem sobre o altar que ele havia construído.

59And Abraham took the wood and placed it in order upon the altar which he had built.

60E tomou Isaque, seu filho, e amarrou-o, para colocá-lo sobre a lenha que estava sobre o altar, para matá-lo em holocausto perante o Senhor.

60And he took his son Isaac and bound him in order to place him upon the wood which was upon the altar, to slay him for a burnt offering before the Lord.

61E Isaque disse a seu pai: Amarre-me com segurança e depois coloque-me sobre o altar para que eu não me vire e me mova, e me solte da força da faca sobre minha carne e profane o holocausto; e Abraão fez isso.

61And Isaac said to his father, Bind me securely and then place me upon the altar lest I should turn and move, and break loose from the force of the knife upon my flesh and thereof profane the burnt offering; and Abraham did so.

62E Isaque ainda disse a seu pai: Ó meu pai, quando me matares e me queimares como oferta, leva contigo o que resta das minhas cinzas para trazer a Sara, minha mãe, e dize-lhe: Este é o cheiro suave de Isaque; mas não diga isso a ela se ela se sentar perto de um poço ou em qualquer lugar alto, para que ela não lance sua alma atrás de mim e morra.

62And Isaac still said to his father, O my father, when thou shalt have slain me and burnt me for an offering, take with thee that which shall remain of my ashes to bring to Sarah my mother, and say to her, This is the sweet smelling savor of Isaac; but do not tell her this if she should sit near a well or upon any high place, lest she should cast her soul after me and die.

63E Abraão ouviu as palavras de Isaque, e levantou a voz e chorou quando Isaque falou estas palavras; e as lágrimas de Abraão jorraram sobre Isaque, seu filho, e Isaque chorou amargamente, e disse a seu pai: Apressa-te, ó meu pai, e faze comigo a vontade do Senhor nosso Deus, como Ele te ordenou.

63And Abraham heard the words of Isaac, and he lifted up his voice and wept when Isaac spake these words; and Abraham's tears gushed down upon Isaac his son, and Isaac wept bitterly, and he said to his father, Hasten thou, O my father, and do with me the will of the Lord our God as He has commanded thee.

64E os corações de Abraão e de Isaque se alegraram com isto que o Senhor lhes ordenara; mas os olhos choraram amargamente enquanto o coração se alegrou.

64And the hearts of Abraham and Isaac rejoiced at this thing which the Lord had commanded them; but the eye wept bitterly whilst the heart rejoiced.

65E Abraão amarrou seu filho Isaque, e o colocou sobre o altar sobre a lenha, e Isaque estendeu o pescoço sobre o altar diante de seu pai, e Abraão estendeu a mão para pegar a faca para matar seu filho como holocausto diante do Senhor.

65And Abraham bound his son Isaac, and placed him on the altar upon the wood, and Isaac stretched forth his neck upon the altar before his father, and Abraham stretched forth his hand to take the knife to slay his son as a burnt offering before the Lord.

66Naquele tempo, os anjos da misericórdia apresentaram-se diante do Senhor e falaram-lhe a respeito de Isaque, dizendo:

66At that time the angels of mercy came before the Lord and spake to him concerning Isaac, saying,

67Ó Senhor, tu és um Rei misericordioso e compassivo sobre tudo o que criaste no céu e na terra, e tu apoias todos eles; dá, portanto, resgate e redenção em lugar de teu servo Isaque, e tem piedade e compaixão de Abraão e seu filho Isaque, que hoje estão cumprindo teus mandamentos.

670 Lord, thou art a merciful and compassionate King over all that thou hast created in heaven and in earth, and thou supportest them all; give therefore ransom and redemption instead of thy servant Isaac, and pity and have compassion upon Abraham and Isaac his son, who are this day performing thy commands.

68Viste, Senhor, como Isaque, filho de Abraão, teu servo, está amarrado ao matadouro como um animal? agora, portanto, que a tua piedade seja despertada por eles, ó Senhor.

68Hast thou seen, O Lord, how Isaac the son of Abraham thy servant is bound down to the slaughter like an animal? now therefore let thy pity be roused for them, O Lord.

69Naquele momento o Senhor apareceu a Abraão e chamou-o desde o céu e disse-lhe: Não estenda a mão sobre o rapaz, nem faça nada com ele, pois agora sei que você teme a Deus ao realizar este ato, e ao não me negar seu filho, seu único filho.

69At that time the Lord appeared unto Abraham, and called to him, from heaven, and said unto him, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him, for now I know that thou fearest God in performing this act, and in not withholding thy son, thine only son, from me.

70E Abraão levantou os olhos e viu, e eis que um carneiro estava preso pelos seus chifres num matagal; esse foi o carneiro que o Senhor Deus criou na terra, no dia em que fez a terra e o céu.

70And Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, a ram was caught in a thicket by his horns; that was the ram which the Lord God had created in the earth in the day that he made earth and heaven.

71Porque o Senhor preparou este carneiro desde aquele dia para ser holocausto em lugar de Isaque.

71For the Lord had prepared this ram from that day, to be a burnt offering instead of Isaac.

72E este carneiro avançava para Abraão, quando Satanás o agarrou e enroscou-lhe os chifres no mato, para que não avançasse até Abraão, a fim de que Abraão matasse seu filho.

72And this ram was advancing to Abraham when Satan caught hold of him and entangled his horns in the thicket, that he might not advance to Abraham, in order that Abraham might slay his son.

73E Abraão, vendo o carneiro avançando para ele e Satanás o retendo, pegou-o e trouxe-o diante do altar, e ele soltou seu filho Isaque de sua amarração, e colocou o carneiro em seu lugar, e Abraão matou o carneiro sobre o altar, e o trouxe como oferta no lugar de seu filho Isaque.

73And Abraham, seeing the ram advancing to him and Satan withholding him, fetched him and brought him before the altar, and he loosened his son Isaac from his binding, and he put the ram in his stead, and Abraham killed the ram upon the altar, and brought it up as an offering in the place of his son Isaac.

74E Abraão aspergiu um pouco do sangue do carneiro sobre o altar, e exclamou e disse: Isto está no lugar do meu filho, e que isto possa ser considerado hoje como o sangue do meu filho diante do Senhor.

74And Abraham sprinkled some of the blood of the ram upon the altar, and he exclaimed and said, This is in the place of my son, and may this be considered this day as the blood of my son before the Lord.

75E tudo o que Abraão fez nesta ocasião junto ao altar, ele exclamava e dizia: Isto está no quarto de meu filho, e que hoje seja considerado diante do Senhor no lugar de meu filho; e Abraão terminou todo o serviço junto ao altar, e o serviço foi aceito perante o Senhor, e foi contabilizado como se tivesse sido Isaque; e o Senhor abençoou Abraão e sua descendência naquele dia.

75And all that Abraham did on this occasion by the altar, he would exclaim and say, This is in the room of my son, and may it this day be considered before the Lord in the place of my son; and Abraham finished the whole of the service by the altar, and the service was accepted before the Lord, and was accounted as if it had been Isaac; and the Lord blessed Abraham and his seed on that day.

76E Satanás foi até Sara, e ele apareceu para ela na figura de um velho muito humilde e manso, e Abraão ainda estava envolvido no holocausto diante do Senhor.

76And Satan went to Sarah, and he appeared to her in the figure of an old man very humble and meek, and Abraham was yet engaged in the burnt offering before the Lord.

77E ele lhe disse: Não sabes toda a obra que Abraão fez hoje com o teu único filho? pois ele tomou Isaque e construiu um altar, e o matou, e o trouxe como sacrifício sobre o altar, e Isaque chorou e chorou diante de seu pai, mas ele não olhou para ele, nem teve compaixão dele.

77And he said unto her, Dost thou not know all the work that Abraham has made with thine only son this day? for he took Isaac and built an altar, and killed him, and brought him up as a sacrifice upon the altar, and Isaac cried and wept before his father, but he looked not at him, neither did he have compassion over him.

78E Satanás repetiu essas palavras, e ele se afastou dela, e Sara ouviu todas as palavras de Satanás, e ela imaginou que ele era um homem velho dentre os filhos dos homens que estavam com seu filho, e veio e lhe contou essas coisas.

78And Satan repeated these words, and he went away from her, and Sarah heard all the words of Satan, and she imagined him to be an old man from amongst the sons of men who had been with her son, and had come and told her these things.

79E Sara levantou a voz e chorou e clamou amargamente por causa de seu filho; e ela se jogou no chão e jogou poeira sobre sua cabeça e disse: Ó meu filho, Isaque, meu filho, quem dera eu tivesse morrido neste dia em seu lugar. E ela continuou a chorar e disse: Lamento-me por ti, ó meu filho, meu filho Isaque, ó, se eu tivesse morrido hoje em teu lugar.

79And Sarah lifted up her voice and wept and cried out bitterly on account of her son; and she threw herself upon the ground and she cast dust upon her head, and she said, O my son, Isaac my son, O that I had this day died instead of thee. And she continued to weep and said, It grieves me for thee, O my son, my son Isaac, O that I had died this day in thy stead.

80E ela ainda continuou a chorar, e disse: Fico triste por ti depois de eu te ter criado e te criado; agora minha alegria se transformou em luto por ti, eu que tinha saudades de ti, e chorei e orei a Deus até te dar à luz aos noventa anos de idade; e agora você serviu hoje ao faca e ao fogo, para ser feito uma oferenda.

80And she still continued to weep, and said, It grieves me for thee after that I have reared thee and have brought thee up; now my joy is turned into mourning over thee, I that had a longing for thee, and cried and prayed to God till I bare thee at ninety years old; and now hast thou served this day for the knife and the fire, to be made an offering.

81Mas eu me consolo contigo, meu filho, em ser a palavra do Senhor, pois cumpriste a ordem do teu Deus; pois quem pode transgredir a palavra do nosso Deus, em cujas mãos está a alma de toda criatura vivente?

81But I console myself with thee, my son, in its being the word of the Lord, for thou didst perform the command of thy God; for who can transgress the word of our God, in whose hands is the soul of every living creature?

82Tu és justo, ó Senhor nosso Deus, pois todas as tuas obras são boas e justas; pois eu também me regozijo com a tua palavra que ordenaste, e enquanto meus olhos choram amargamente, meu coração se alegra.

82Thou art just, O Lord our God, for all thy works are good and righteous; for I also am rejoiced with thy word which thou didst command, and whilst mine eye weepeth bitterly my heart rejoiceth.

83E Sara deitou a cabeça sobre o colo de uma de suas servas, e ficou imóvel como uma pedra.

83And Sarah laid her head upon the bosom of one of her handmaids, and she became as still as a stone.

84Depois ela se levantou e começou a fazer perguntas até chegar a Hebron, e perguntou a todos aqueles que encontrou andando pela estrada, e ninguém pôde lhe contar o que havia acontecido com seu filho.

84She afterward rose up and went about making inquiries till she came to Hebron, and she inquired of all those whom she met walking in the road, and no one could tell her what had happened to her son.

85E ela veio com suas servas e servos para Kireath-arba, que é Hebron, e ela perguntou sobre seu Filho, e ela permaneceu lá enquanto enviava alguns de seus servos para procurar onde Abraão tinha ido com Isaque; foram procurá-lo na casa de Sem e Éber, e não conseguiram encontrá-lo, e procuraram por toda a terra e ele não estava lá.

85And she came with her maid servants and men servants to Kireath-arba, which is Hebron, and she asked concerning her Son, and she remained there while she sent some of her servants to seek where Abraham had gone with Isaac; they went to seek him in the house of Shem and Eber, and they could not find him, and they sought throughout the land and he was not there.

86E eis que Satanás veio a Sara na forma de um homem velho e veio e ficou diante dela e disse-lhe: Falei-te falsamente, porque Abraão não matou seu filho e ele não está morto; e quando ela ouviu a palavra, sua alegria foi tão violenta por causa de seu filho, que sua alma se encheu de alegria; ela morreu e foi reunida ao seu povo.

86And behold, Satan came to Sarah in the shape of an old man, and he came and stood before her, and he said unto her, I spoke falsely unto thee, for Abraham did not kill his son and he is not dead; and when she heard the word her joy was so exceedingly violent on account of her son, that her soul went out through joy; she died and was gathered to her people.

87E quando Abraão terminou seu serviço, ele voltou com seu filho Isaque para seus jovens, e eles se levantaram e foram juntos para Berseba, e voltaram para casa.

87And when Abraham had finished his service he returned with his son Isaac to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba, and they came home.

88E Abraão procurou por Sara, e não conseguiu encontrá-la, e ele fez perguntas a respeito dela, e eles lhe disseram: Ela foi até Hebron para procurar vocês dois, onde vocês tinham ido, pois assim ela foi informada.

88And Abraham sought for Sarah, and could not find her, and he made inquiries concerning her, and they said unto him, She went as far as Hebron to seek you both where you had gone, for thus was she informed.

89E Abraão e Isaque foram até ela em Hebron, e quando descobriram que ela estava morta, levantaram a voz e choraram amargamente por ela; e Isaque caiu sobre o rosto de sua mãe e chorou por ela, e disse: Ó minha mãe, minha mãe, como me deixaste e para onde foste? Oh, como, como você me deixou!

89And Abraham and Isaac went to her to Hebron, and when they found that she was dead they lifted up their voices and wept bitterly over her; and Isaac fell upon his mother's face and wept over her, and he said, O my mother, my mother, how hast thou left me, and where hast thou gone? O how, how hast thou left me!

90E Abraão e Isaque choraram muito e todos os seus servos choraram com eles por causa de Sara, e choraram por ela um grande e pesado luto.

90And Abraham and Isaac wept greatly and all their servants wept with them on account of Sarah, and they mourned over her a great and heavy mourning.
