2Pois, visto que estais sujeitos ao bispo como a Jesus Cristo, parece-me que não viveis segundo a maneira dos homens, mas segundo Jesus Cristo, que morreu por nós, para que, crendo em Sua morte, possais escapar da morte.

2For, since ye are subject to the bishop as to Jesus Christ, ye appear to me to live not after the manner of men, but according to Jesus Christ, who died for us, in order, by believing in His death, ye may escape from death.

3É necessário, portanto, que, como de fato fazemos, sem o bispo nada façamos, mas também estejamos sujeitos ao presbitério, como ao apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, que é a nossa esperança, em quem, se vivermos, seremos finalmente encontrados.

3It is therefore necessary that, as ye indeed do, so without the bishop ye should do nothing, but should also be subject to the presbytery, as to the apostle of Jesus Christ, who is our hope, in whom, if we live, we shall at last be found.

4É apropriado também que os diáconos, como ministros dos mistérios de Jesus Cristo, sejam em todos os aspectos agradáveis ​​a todos.

4It is fitting also that the deacons, as being the ministers of the mysteries of Jesus Christ, should in every respect be pleasing to all.

5Pois eles não são ministros de comida e bebida, mas servos da Igreja de Deus.

5For they are not ministers of meat and drink, but servants of the Church of God.

6Eles são obrigados, portanto, a evitar todos os motivos de acusação contra eles, como fariam com um incêndio.

6They are bound, therefore, to avoid all grounds of accusation against them, as they would do fire.

7Estai sujeitos ao bispo como ao Senhor, pois “ele zela pelas vossas almas, como quem dá contas a Deus”.

7Be ye subject to the bishop as to the Lord, for "he watches for your souls, as one that shall give account to God".

8Por isso também me parece que não viveis segundo a maneira dos homens, mas segundo Jesus Cristo, que morreu por nós, para que, crendo na sua morte, pelo batismo vos torneis participantes da sua ressurreição.

8Wherefore also, ye appear to me to live not after the manner of men, but according to Jesus Christ, who died for us, in order that, by believing in His death, ye may by baptism be made partakers of His resurrection.

9É necessário, portanto, que tudo o que fizerdes, não façais nada sem o bispo.

9It is therefore necessary, whatsoever things ye do, to do nothing without the bishop.

10E sede sujeitos também ao presbitério, como aos apóstolos de Jesus Cristo, que é a nossa esperança, em quem, se vivermos, seremos encontrados nele.

10And be ye subject also to the presbytery, as to the apostles of Jesus Christ, who is our hope, in whom, if we live, we shall be found in Him.

11Convém a vós também, em todos os sentidos, agradar aos diáconos, que são ministros dos mistérios de Cristo Jesus; pois eles não são ministros de comida e bebida, mas servos da Igreja de Deus.

11It behoves you also, in every way, to please the deacons, who are ministers of the mysteries of Christ Jesus; for they are not ministers of meat and drink, but servants of the Church of God.

12Eles são obrigados, portanto, a evitar todos os motivos de acusação contra eles, como fariam com um fogo ardente.

12They are bound, therefore, to avoid all grounds of accusation against them, as they would a burning fire.

13Deixe-os, então, provar que são assim.

13Let them, then, prove themselves to be such.
