1A Epístola de Inácio aos Romanos Versões mais curtas e mais longas Inácio, que também é chamado de Teóforo, à Igreja que obteve misericórdia, através da majestade do Pai Altíssimo, e de Jesus Cristo, Seu Filho unigênito; a Igreja que é amada e iluminada pela vontade dAquele que quer todas as coisas que são segundo o amor de Jesus Cristo nosso Deus, que também preside no lugar da região dos romanos, digna de Deus, digna de honra, digna da mais alta felicidade, digna de louvor, digna de obter todos os seus desejos, digna de ser considerada santa, e que preside o amor, é nomeada por Cristo e pelo Pai, que também saúdo em nome de Jesus Cristo, o Filho do Pai: para aqueles que estão unidos, tanto segundo a carne como o espírito, a cada um dos Seus mandamentos; que estão inseparavelmente preenchidos com a graça de Deus e purificados de toda mancha estranha, desejo abundância de felicidade irrepreensível, em Jesus Cristo, nosso Deus.

1The Epistle of Ignatius to the Romans Shorter and Longer Versions Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the Church which has obtained mercy, through the majesty of the Most High Father, and Jesus Christ, His only-begotten Son; the Church which is beloved and enlightened by the will of Him that willeth all things which are according to the love of Jesus Christ our God, which also presides in the place of the region of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honour, worthy of the highest happiness, worthy of praise, worthy of obtaining her every desire, worthy of being deemed holy, and which presides over love, is named from Christ, and from the Father, which I also salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father: to those who are united, both according to the flesh and spirit, to every one of His commandments; who are filled inseparably with the grace of God, and are purified from every strange taint, I wish abundance of happiness unblameably, in Jesus Christ our God.

3Capítulo 1 — Como prisioneiro, espero ver você.

3Chapter 1 — As a prisoner, I hope to see you.

4Através da oração a Deus obtive o privilégio de ver os vossos rostos mais dignos, e até me foi concedido mais do que pedi; pois espero, como prisioneiro em Cristo Jesus, saudá-los, se de fato for a vontade de Deus que eu seja considerado digno de alcançar o fim.

4Through prayer to God I have obtained the privilege of seeing your most worthy faces, and have even been granted more than I requested; for I hope as a prisoner in Christ Jesus to salute you, if indeed it be the will of God that I be thought worthy of attaining unto the end.

5Pois o início foi bem ordenado, se eu puder obter graça para me apegar à minha sorte sem impedimentos até o fim.

5For the beginning has been well ordered, if I may obtain grace to cling to my lot without hindrance unto the end.

6Pois tenho medo do teu amor, para que não me prejudique.

6For I am afraid of your love, lest it should do me an injury.

7Pois é fácil para você realizar o que deseja; mas é difícil para mim chegar a Deus, se vocês me pouparem.

7For it is easy for you to accomplish what you please; but it is difficult for me to attain to God, if ye spare me.

8Através da oração a Deus obtive o privilégio de ver seus rostos mais dignos, mesmo quando implorei sinceramente que me fosse concedido; pois, como prisioneiro em Cristo Jesus, espero saudá-lo, se de fato for a vontade de Deus que eu seja considerado digno de alcançar o fim.

8Through prayer to God I have obtained the privilege of seeing your most worthy faces, even as I earnestly begged might be granted me; for as a prisoner in Christ Jesus I hope to salute you, if indeed it be the will of God that I be thought worthy of attaining unto the end.

9Pois o início foi bem ordenado, se eu puder obter graça para me apegar à minha sorte sem impedimentos até o fim.

9For the beginning has been well ordered, if I may obtain grace to cling to my lot without hindrance unto the end.

10Pois tenho medo do teu amor, para que não me prejudique.

10For I am afraid of your love, lest it should do me an injury.

11Pois é fácil para você realizar o que deseja; mas é difícil para mim chegar a Deus, se vocês não me pouparem, sob o pretexto de afeição carnal.

11For it is easy for you to accomplish what you please; but it is difficult for me to attain to God, if ye do not spare me, under the pretence of carnal affection.
