Inácio aos Efésios 1

1A Epístola de Inácio aos Efésios Versões Curtas e Longas Inácio, também chamado Teóforo, à Igreja que está em Éfeso, na Ásia, merecidamente feliz, sendo abençoada na grandeza e plenitude de Deus Pai, e predestinada antes do início dos tempos, para que seja sempre para uma glória duradoura e imutável, sendo unida e eleita através da verdadeira paixão pela vontade do Pai, e de Jesus Cristo, nosso Deus: Felicidade abundante por meio de Jesus Cristo e Sua graça imaculada.

1The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians Shorter and Longer Versions Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the Church which is at Ephesus, in Asia, deservedly most happy, being blessed in the greatness and fulness of God the Father, and predestinated before the beginningof time, that it should be always for an enduring and unchangeable glory, being united and elected through the true passion by the will of the Father, and Jesus Christ, our God: Abundant happiness through Jesus Christ, and His undefiled grace.

3Chapter 1 — Praise of the Ephesians.

4Conheci o teu nome, amado em Deus, que adquiriste pelo hábito da justiça, segundo a fé e o amor em Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador.

4I have become acquainted with your name, much-beloved in God, which ye have acquired by the habit of righteousness, according to the faith and love in Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5Sendo seguidores de Deus e estimulados pelo sangue de Deus, vocês realizaram perfeitamente a obra que lhes convinha.

5Being the followers of God, and stirring up yourselves by the blood of God, ye have perfectly accomplished the work which was beseeming to you.

6Pois, ao ouvir que eu vim da Síria pelo nome comum e pela esperança, confiando, através de suas orações, ter permissão para lutar com feras em Roma, para que, pelo martírio, eu possa de fato me tornar discípulo dAquele “que se entregou por nós, como oferta e sacrifício a Deus”, vocês se apressaram em me ver.

6For, on hearing that I came bound from Syria for the common name and hope, trusting through your prayers to be permitted to fight with beasts at Rome, that so by martyrdom I may indeed become the disciple of Him "who gave Himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God," ye hastened to see me.

7Recebi, portanto, toda a sua multidão em nome de Deus, por meio de Onésimo, um homem de amor inexprimível, e seu bispo na carne, a quem rogo que você ame por Jesus Cristo, e que todos vocês procurem ser como ele.

7I received, therefore, your whole multitude in the name of God, through Onesimus, a man of inexpressible love, and your bishop in the flesh, whom I pray you by Jesus Christ to love, and that you would all seek to be like him.

8E bendito seja Aquele que vos concedeu, sendo digno, obter tão excelente bispo.

8And blessed be He who has granted unto you, being worthy, to obtain such an excellent bishop.

9Conheci o vosso cobiçado nome em Deus, que adquiristes pelo hábito da justiça, segundo a fé e o amor em Cristo Jesus, nosso Salvador.

9I have become acquainted with your greatly-desired name in God, which ye have acquired by the habit of righteousness, according to the faith and love in Christ Jesus our Saviour.

10Sendo seguidores do amor de Deus para com o homem, e estimulados pelo sangue de Cristo, vocês realizaram perfeitamente a obra que lhes convinha.

10Being the followers of the love of God towards man, and stirring up yourselves by the blood of Christ, you have perfectly accomplished the work which was beseeming to you.

11Pois, ao ouvir que eu vim da Síria por causa de Cristo, nossa esperança comum, confiando através de suas orações em ter permissão para lutar com feras em Roma, para que pelo martírio eu possa de fato me tornar discípulo dAquele “que se entregou por nós, como oferta e sacrifício a Deus”, vocês se apressaram em me ver.

11For, on hearing that I came bound from Syria for the sake of Christ, our common hope, trusting through your prayers to be permitted to fight with beasts at Rome, that so by martyrdom I may indeed become the disciple of Him "who gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God," ye hastened to see me.

12Portanto, recebi toda a sua multidão em nome de Deus, por meio de Onésimo, um homem de amor inexprimível, e que é seu bispo, a quem rogo que você ame por Jesus Cristo, e que todos vocês procurem ser como ele.

12I have therefore received your whole multitude in the name of God, through Onesimus, a man of inexpressible love, and who is your bishop, whom I pray you by Jesus Christ to love, and that you would all seek to be like him.

13Bendito seja Deus, que concedeu a vocês, que são tão excelentes, obter um bispo tão excelente.

13Blessed be God, who has granted unto you, who are yourselves so excellent, to obtain such an excellent bishop.
