Epístola dos Apóstolos 42

1Mas nós lhe dissemos: Senhor, como pode ser que cada um de nós seja estas três coisas? Disse-nos ele: Em verdade vos digo: Sereis chamados pais, porque com coração louvável e em amor lhes revelastes as coisas do reino dos céus. E sereis chamados servos, porque eles receberão o batismo da vida e a remissão dos seus pecados da minha mão por vosso intermédio. E sereis chamados mestres, porque lhes destes a palavra sem avareza, e os admoestastes, e, quando os admoestastes, eles se converteram. Não temestes as suas riquezas, nem vos envergonhastes diante de suas faces, mas guardastes os mandamentos de meu Pai e os cumpristes. E tereis grande galardão junto de meu Pai que está nos céus, e eles terão o perdão dos pecados e a vida eterna, e serão participantes do reino dos céus.

1But we said unto him: Lord, how may it be that every one of us should be these three? He said unto us: Verily I say unto you: Ye shall be called fathers, because with praiseworthy heart and in love ye have revealed unto them the things of the kingdom of heaven. And ye shall be called servants, because they shall receive the baptism of life and the remission of their sins at my hand through you. And ye shall be called masters, because ye have given them the word without grudging, and have admonished them, and when ye admonished them, they turned themselves (were converted). Ye were not afraid of their riches, nor ashamed before their face, but ye kept the commandments of my Father and fulfilled them. And ye shall have a great reward with my Father which is in heaven, and they shall have forgiveness of sins and everlasting life, and be partakers in the kingdom of heaven.

2E nós lhe dissemos: Senhor, ainda que cada um de nós tivesse dez mil línguas para falar, não poderíamos render-te graças por nos prometeres tais coisas. Então ele nos respondeu, dizendo: Somente fazei aquilo que vos digo, assim como eu mesmo o fiz.

2And we said unto him: Lord, even if every one of us had ten thousand tongues to speak withal, we could not thank thee, for that thou promisest such things unto us. Then answered he us, saying: Only do ye that which I say unto you, even as I myself also have done it.
