3 Adão e Eva 5

1Então o venerável ancião Matusalém, que permanecera na montanha com os filhos de Noé, viveu 987 anos e depois adoeceu; e a sua enfermidade era tal que, por causa dela, haveria de partir deste mundo.

1Then the ancient old man Methuselah who remained on the mountain with Noah's sons, lived 987 years and then sickened; and his sickness was such that, on account of it, he must depart from this world.

2Quando Noé e seus filhos, Sem, Cão e Jafé, souberam disso, vieram a ele com as suas esposas, e choraram diante dele, e disseram:

2When Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japhet, became aware of it, they came to him with their wives, and wept before him, and said,

3Ó nosso pai e nosso ancião, abençoa-nos, e roga a Deus que tenha misericórdia de nós quando tiveres partido de nós.

3"O our father, and our elder, bless us, and pray God to have mercy on us when thou art gone from us."

4Então Matusalém disse-lhes com o coração pesaroso: Ouvi-me, ó meus queridos filhos; pois nenhum dos nossos pais restou, exceto vós, oito almas.

4Then Methuselah said to them with a sorrowful heart, "Hear me, O my dear children; for none of our fathers are left, except you, eight souls.

5O Senhor Deus criou nosso pai Adão e nossa mãe Eva, e a partir deles encheu a terra de pessoas nas vizinhanças do jardim, e multiplicou a semente deles.

5The Lord God created our father Adam and our mother Eve, and from them filled the earth with people in the neighbourhood of the garden, and multiplied their seed.

6Contudo eles não guardaram o Seu mandamento, e Ele os destruirá.

6Yet they have not kept His commandment, and He will destroy them.

7Porém, se tivessem guardado o Seu mandamento, Ele teria enchido os céus e a terra com eles.

7Yet had they kept His commandment, He would then have filled heaven and earth with them."

8Não obstante, pedirei ao Senhor meu Deus que vos abençoe, que vos multiplique e que espalhe a vossa linhagem numa terra estranha, para a qual ireis.

8Yet will I ask the Lord my God to bless you, to multiply you, and to spread your race in a strange land, to which ye shall go.

9E agora, ó meus filhos, eis que Deus vos conduzirá dentro de uma arca para uma terra na qual nunca estivestes.

9"And now, O my children, behold, God will bring you inside an ark unto a land to which ye have never been.

10E o Senhor Deus de todos os nossos santos pais seja convosco!

10And the Lord God of all our pure fathers, be with you!"

11E as gloriosas dádivas que Deus outorgou a nosso pai Adão desde o jardim nesta bendita caverna dos tesouros, que Ele as conceda a vós também!

11And the glorious gifts God bestowed on our father Adam from the garden in this blessed cave of treasures, may He bestow them on you also!

12Estas são as três gloriosas dádivas que Deus conferiu a Adão:

12"These are the three glorious gifts which God made to Adam.

13A primeira é a Realeza, na qual Deus fez Adão rei sobre as Suas obras.

13The first is Kingdom wherein God made Adam king over His works.

14A segunda gloriosa dádiva é o Sacerdócio, no qual Deus soprou na sua face um espírito de vida.

14The second glorious gift is Priesthood, in that God breathed into his face a spirit of life.

15E a terceira gloriosa dádiva é a Profecia, pois Adão profetizou a respeito daquilo que Deus planejava fazer.

15And the third glorious gift is Prophecy, for Adam prophesied concerning what God thought of doing.

16Pedirei, pois, ao Senhor meu Deus que conceda essas três gloriosas dádivas à vossa posteridade.

16"Yet I will ask the Lord my God, to bestow those three glorious gifts on your posterity."

17Disse também Matusalém a Noé: Ó Noé, tu és bendito de Deus.

17Then Methuselah said also to Noah, "O Noah, thou art blessed of God.

18Eu te advirto a respeito do dilúvio e te digo que vou partir de ti para estar com todos os nossos pais que me antecederam. Mas tu, que ficarás sozinho com teus filhos nesta montanha sagrada, guarda o mandamento que te dou, e não abandones coisa alguma do que te declarei.

18I warn thee of the flood and tell thee that I am going from thee to be with all our fathers that have gone before me. Yet thou, who shalt be left alone with thy children on this holy mountain, keep the commandment I give thee, and forsake not anything of what I have told thee.

19Eis que o meu Deus trará em breve um dilúvio sobre a terra; embalsama o meu corpo e deposita-o na caverna dos tesouros.

19Behold my God shall quickly bring a flood upon the earth; embalm my body, and lay it in the cave of treasures."

20Depois toma a tua esposa com os teus filhos e as esposas deles, e desce desta montanha sagrada, e leva contigo o corpo de nosso pai Adão.

20Then take thy wife with thy sons and their wives, and go down from this holy mountain, and take with thee the body of our father Adam.

21Entra na arca e deposita-o ali, até que as águas do Dilúvio tenham diminuído de sobre a face da terra.

21Go into the ark and lay it there, until the waters of the Flood are assuaged from off the face of the earth.

22Ó meu filho, quando estiveres prestes a morrer, ordena ao teu filho primogênito Sem que tome Melquisedeque, filho de Cainã e neto de Arfaxade; pois esse Melquisedeque é sacerdote do Deus Altíssimo; e que levem consigo o corpo de nosso pai Adão de dentro da arca, e o retirem e o sepultem na terra.

22O my son, when thou are about to die, command thy first-born son Shem, to take Melchizedec, son of Cainan, and grandson of Arphaxad; for that Melchizedec is priest of the Most High God; and to take with them the body of our father Adam from within the ark, and remove it and lay it in the earth. "

23E Melquisedeque permanecerá ministrando naquela montanha que fica no centro da terra, diante do corpo de nosso pai Adão para sempre.

23And Melchizedec shall stand ministering on that mountain that is in the middle of the earth, before the body of our father Adam for ever.

24Pois daquele lugar, ó Noé, meu filho, Deus operará a salvação para Adão e para toda a sua descendência que crer em Deus.

24For from that place, O Noah my son, God shall work salvation for Adam and for all of his seed that believe in God."

25Matusalém disse também a Noé e a seus filhos: O anjo de Deus irá convosco, até chegardes àquele lugar no centro da terra.

25Methuselah said also to Noah and to his sons, "The angel of God will go with you, until you come to that place in the middle of the earth."

26Novamente disse Matusalém a Noé: Ó meu filho, que aquele que ministra perante Deus e diante do corpo de nosso pai Adão tenha uma veste de peles e esteja cingido sobre os seus lombos com couro.

26Again Methuselah said to Noah, "O my son, let him who ministers unto God and before the body of our father Adam, have a clothing of skin, and be girt about his loins with leather.

27Não use ornamento algum, mas seja pobre a sua vestimenta; fique sozinho, e permaneça em oração ao Senhor nosso Deus para que guarde o corpo de nosso pai Adão; pois é um corpo de grande valor perante Deus.

27Let him wear no ornament, yet let his raiment be poor; let him be alone, f and stand praying our Lord God to watch over the body of our father Adam; for it is a body of great value before God.

28E prossiga ele no seu ministério, sendo sacerdote do Deus Altíssimo; pois ele é agradável a Deus, e assim também o ministério que cumpre perante Deus.

28And let him continue in his ministry, he the priest of the Most High God; for he is well pleasing unto God, and so is the ministry he fulfils before God."

29Depois disto, Matusalém ordenou a Noé, dizendo: Lembra-te, pois, de todos estes mandamentos e guarda-os.

29After this Methuselah commanded Noah saying, "Mind, then, all these commandments, and keep them."

30Em seguida, as mãos de Matusalém relaxaram; ele cessou de falar; fechou gradualmente os olhos e entrou no repouso como todos os seus pais; com as lágrimas a escorrer pelas suas faces,

30Then Methuselah's hands were loosened; he ceased speaking; he gradually closed his eyes, and entered into rest like all his fathers; his tears at the time streaming down his cheeks,

31e o seu coração contristado por separar-se de todos eles, mas sobretudo por causa daquela montanha do jardim, na qual nenhum deles mais restaria; pois Deus havia resolvido destruir todas as criaturas e apagá-las da face da terra.

31and his heart grieving at being separated from them all, yet mostly because of that mountain of the garden, on which not one of them was left; for God was purposed to destroy all creatures, and to blot them out from the face of the earth.

32O repouso de Matusalém ocorreu quando ele tinha 967 anos de idade, no dia 12 de Magabit, num domingo.

32The rest of Methuselah took place when he was 967 years old, on the 12th of Magabit on a Sunday.

33Então Noé e seus filhos o embalsamaram, chorando e lamentando sobre ele, e o colocaram na caverna dos tesouros.

33Then Noah and his sons embalmed him, weeping and sorrowing over him, and laid him in the cave of treasures.

34E prantearam sobre ele com grande pranto, eles e as suas esposas, durante 40 dias.

34And they wailed over him with a great wailing, they and their wives, 40 days.

35E quando o luto e a dor por Matusalém terminaram, Noé e seus filhos começaram a agir como Matusalém lhes havia ordenado.

35And when mourning and grief over Methu selah were ended, Noah and his sons began to do as Methuselah had commanded them.
