1 Adão e Eva 73

1Considerou então Deus as palavras de Adão, que eram verdadeiras e que podia esperar pacientemente pela Sua ordem quanto ao conselho de Satanás.

1Then God considered the words of Adam that they were true, and that he could long await His order, respecting the counsel of Satan.

2E Deus aprovou a Adão no que havia meditado acerca disto e na oração que fizera na Sua presença; e veio a Palavra de Deus a Adão e disse-lhe: "Ó Adão, oxalá tivesses tido esta prudência no princípio, antes de saíres do jardim para esta terra!"

2And God approved Adam in what he had thought concerning this, and in the prayer he had offered in His presence; and the Word of God came to Adam and said to him, "O Adam, if only you had had this caution at first, before you came out of the garden into this land!"

3Depois disto enviou Deus o Seu anjo que trouxera o ouro, o anjo que trouxera o incenso e o anjo que trouxera a mirra a Adão, a fim de que o instruíssem acerca do seu matrimônio com Eva.

3After that, God sent His angel who had brought gold, and the angel who had brought incense, and the angel who had brought myrrh to Adam, that they should inform him respecting his marriage to Eve.

4Disseram então aqueles anjos a Adão: "Toma o ouro e dá-o a Eva por presente de casamento, e promete casar-te com ela; dá-lhe depois incenso e mirra por presente; e sereis vós, tu e ela, uma só carne."

4Then those angels said to Adam, "Take the gold and give it to Eve as a wedding gift, and promise to marry her; then give her some incense and myrrh as a present; and be you, you and she, one flesh."

5Obedeceu Adão aos anjos, tomou o ouro e pô-lo no seio de Eva, na sua vestimenta; e prometeu-lhe casamento com a sua mão.

5Adam obeyed the angels, and took the gold and put it into Eve's bosom in her garment; and promised to marry her with his hand.

6Ordenaram então os anjos a Adão e Eva que se levantassem e orassem quarenta dias e quarenta noites; e cumprido isso, Adão coabitaria com a sua mulher; pois então seria este um ato puro e incontaminado, para que gerasse filhos que se multiplicassem e povoassem a face da terra.

6Then the angels commanded Adam and Eve to get up and pray forty days and forty nights; when that was done, then Adam was to have sexual intercourse with his wife; for then this would be an act pure and undefiled; so that he would have children who would multiply, and replenish the face of the earth.

7Receberam então Adão e Eva as palavras dos anjos; e os anjos se apartaram deles.

7Then both Adam and Eve received the words of the angels; and the angels departed from them.

8Começaram pois Adão e Eva a jejuar e orar até ao termo dos quarenta dias; e depois coabitaram, como lhes haviam dito os anjos. E desde o tempo em que Adão saiu do jardim até que desposou a Eva foram duzentos e vinte e três dias, a saber, sete meses e treze dias.

8Then Adam and Eve began to fast and pray, until the end of the forty days; and then they had sexual intercourse, as the angels had told them. And from the time Adam left the garden until he wedded Eve, were two hundred and twenty-three days, that is seven months and thirteen days.

9Assim foi frustrada a peleja de Satanás contra Adão.

9Thus was Satan's war with Adam defeated.
