1Then they brought two robbers and crucified the Lord in the midst of them, but he remained silent as if he felt no pain.
2When they set up the cross they wrote on it: 'This is the king of Israel.'
3They laid his garments before him, divided them into lots and cast dice upon them.
4One of those malefactors, however, rebuked them, saying: 'We suffer thus for the iniquities we have committed, but this one, who came to be the Savior of men, in what can he have wronged them?'
5Indignant against him, they ordered that his legs should not be broken so that he might die in torment.
