1Some pious Jews said: 'We know that Joseph espoused Mary and that Jesus was not begotten through fornication.'
2Twelve men affirmed: 'We were present at the wedding of Joseph and Mary.'
3Pilate made us swear by Caesar's health, and they told the truth.
4Pilate said: 'For what reason do they want to put him to death?' They answered: 'They are envious of him for healing on the Sabbath.'
5And, full of wrath, Pilate said: 'I take the sun as witness that I find no fault in this man.'
6The Jews answered: 'If he were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered him to you.'
7And Pilate said: 'Take him yourselves and judge him according to your laws.'
