1Zechariah son of Iddo

2Ele veio da Caldéia quando já tinha idade avançada. Enquanto estava lá, ele profetizou muitas vezes ao povo e fez maravilhas como prova de sua autoridade.

2He came from Chaldea when already advanced in age. While there, he prophesied often to the people, and did wonders in proof of his authority.

3Ele predisse a Jozadaque que geraria um filho que serviria como sacerdote em Jerusalém;

3He foretold to Jozadak that he would beget a son who would serve as priest in Jerusalem;

4ele também parabenizou Sealtiel pelo nascimento de um filho e deu-lhe o nome de Zorobabel.

4he also congratulated Shealtiel on the birth of a son and gave him the name Zerubbabel.

5No tempo de Ciro, ele deu ao rei um sinal de vitória e predisse o serviço que estava destinado a prestar em Jerusalém, e o elogiou grandemente.

5In the time of Cyrus he gave the king a sign of victory, and foretold the service which he was destined to perform for Jerusalem, and he praised him greatly.

6Suas profecias proferidas em Jerusalém tinham a ver com o fim das nações, com Israel e o templo, com a preguiça dos profetas e sacerdotes, e com um duplo julgamento.

6His prophecies uttered in Jerusalem had to do with the end of the nations, with Israel and the temple, with the laziness of prophets and priests, and with a double judgment.

7Depois de atingir a idade avançada, adoeceu e, morrendo, foi enterrado ao lado de Ageu.

7After reaching great age he was taken ill, and dying, was buried beside Haggai.
