1E dezoito dias se passaram; então Satanás irou-se e transformou-se no resplendor dos anjos, e foi até o rio

1And eighteen days passed by; then Satan was wroth and transformed himself into the brightness of angels, and went away to the river

2Tigre, a Eva, e a achou chorando; e o próprio diabo fingiu condoer-se com ela, e começou a chorar e disse-lhe: 'Sai do rio e não lamentes mais. Cessa agora da tristeza e dos gemidos. Por que estás inquieta,

2Tigris to Eve, and found her weeping, and the devil himself pretended to grieve with her, and he began to weep and said to her: 'Come out of the river and lament no more. Cease now from sorrow and moans. Why art thou anxious

3e teu marido Adão? O Senhor Deus ouviu o vosso gemido e aceitou a vossa penitência, e todos nós, os anjos, intercedemos por vós e suplicamos ao Senhor;

3and thy husband Adam? The Lord God hath heard your groaning and hath accepted your penitence, and all we angels have entreated on your behalf, and made supplication to the Lord;

4e Ele me enviou para vos tirar da água e vos dar o alimento que tínheis no paraíso e pelo qual estais clamando.

4and he hath sent me to bring you out of the water and give you the nourishment which you had in paradise, and for which you are crying

5Agora, sai da água e eu te conduzirei ao lugar onde o vosso mantimento foi preparado.'

5out. Now come out of the water and I will conduct you to the place where your victual hath been made ready.'
