Evangelho da Infância de Tomé 6

1Ora, um certo professor chamado Zaqueu, ouvindo Jesus falar estas coisas a seu pai, ficou muito assombrado.

1Now a certain teacher named Zacchaeus, hearing Jesus speak these things to his father, was greatly astonished.

2Porque sendo criança, dizia tais coisas.

2Because being a child, he said such things.

3Disse a José: Tens um menino sábio, entrega-o a mim para aprender as letras.

3He said to Joseph: You have a wise child, entrust him to me to learn letters.

4E eu lhe ensinarei com as letras todo conhecimento, e a saudar os anciãos e honrá-los como avós e pais.

4And I will teach him with letters all knowledge, and to greet the elders and honor them as grandparents and fathers.

5José disse-lhe: E quem é capaz de ensinar tal menino? Acaso imaginas que ele seja uma pequena cruz?

5Joseph said to him: And who is able to teach such a child? Do you suppose that he is a small cross?

6Jesus ouviu e riu e disse: Tu disseste a verdade.

6Jesus heard and laughed and said: You have spoken the truth.

7Zaqueu ficou espantado com a resposta do menino.

7Zacchaeus was amazed at the child's reply.
