Tobias 5

1Então Tobias respondeu a seu pai, e disse: Farei, ó pai, tudo quanto me mandaste.

1Tobias then answered and said, Father, I will do all things which thou hast commanded me:

2Mas como poderei receber esse dinheiro? Ele não me conhece, nem eu o conheço; que sinal lhe darei? E também não sei os caminhos para ir lá.

2But how can I receive the money, seeing I know him not?

3Então seu pai respondeu e disse-lhe: Tenho da sua mão um título; e quando lho mostrares, logo te entregará o dinheiro. Mas vai agora buscar algum homem fiel que vá contigo pela sua paga, para que ainda em minha vida o recebas.

3Then he gave him the handwriting, and said unto him, Seek thee a man which may go with thee, whiles I yet live, and I will give him wages: and go and receive the money.

4Então Tobias saindo, achou um jovem formoso, que estava em pé e cingido, e como que preparado para caminhar. E não sabendo que era um anjo de Deus, saudou-o,

4Therefore when he went to seek a man, he found Raphael that was an angel.

5E disse: Donde és, bom jovem? E ele disse: Dos filhos de Israel. E Tobias disse-lhe: Sabes tu o caminho que vai à terra de Média?

5But he knew not; and he said unto him, Canst thou go with me to Rages? and knowest thou those places well?

6E ele respondeu: Sei, e andei todos esses caminhos, e aposentei-me muitas vezes em casa de Gabael, nosso irmão, que mora em Ragés, que é cidade de Média, situada no monte de Ecbatana.

6To whom the angel said, I will go with thee, and I know the way well: for I have lodged with our brother Gabael.

7E Tobias disse-lhe: Espera-me, peço-te, até que dê parte disso a meu pai.

7Then Tobias said unto him, Tarry for me, till I tell my father.

8Então entrando Tobias contou a seu pai tudo isso; do que seu pai se maravilhou, e pediu que entrasse em sua casa.

8Then he said unto him, Go and tarry not. So he went in and said to his father, Behold, I have found one which will go with me. Then he said, Call him unto me, that I may know of what tribe he is, and whether he be a trusty man to go with thee.

9E ele entrando saudou-o, e disse: Alegria tenhas sempre. E Tobias disse: Que alegria terei eu, que estou assentado em trevas, e não vejo a luz do céu?

9So he called him, and he came in, and they saluted one another.

10E o jovem disse-lhe: Tem bom ânimo, que de Deus está a tua cura. Então Tobias disse-lhe: Porventura poderás levar meu filho a Gabael em Ragés de Média, e quando voltares pagar-te-ei o teu salário?

10Then Tobit said unto him, Brother, shew me of what tribe and family thou art.

11E ele disse-lhe: Eu o levarei, e o tornarei a trazer a ti.

11To whom he said, Dost thou seek for a tribe or family, or an hired man to go with thy son? Then Tobit said unto him, I would know, brother, thy kindred and name.

12E Tobias disse-lhe: Peço-te que me digas de que família e de que tribo és tu.

12Then he said, I am Azarias, the son of Ananias the great, and of thy brethren.

13E Rafael disse-lhe: Procuras a família do jornaleiro, ou o próprio jornaleiro que vá com teu filho? Mas para que te não faça estar ansioso, eu sou Azarias, filho do grande Ananias.

13Then Tobit said, Thou art welcome, brother; be not now angry with me, because I have enquired to know thy tribe and thy family; for thou art my brother, of an honest and good stock: for I know Ananias and Jonathas, sons of that great Samaias, as we went together to Jerusalem to worship, and offered the firstborn, and the tenths of the fruits; and they were not seduced with the error of our brethren: my brother, thou art of a good stock.

14E Tobias disse-lhe: És de uma grande família. Mas peço-te que não te agastes por eu querer saber a tua família.

14But tell me, what wages shall I give thee? wilt thou a drachm a day, and things necessary, as to mine own son?

15E ele disse-lhe: Eu levarei são teu filho, e são to tornarei a trazer.

15Yea, moreover, if ye return safe, I will add something to thy wages.

16E Tobias respondeu e disse: Ide em boa hora, e Deus seja convosco no vosso caminho, e o seu anjo vos acompanhe.

16So they were well pleased. Then said he to Tobias, Prepare thyself for the journey, and God send you a good journey. And when his son had prepared all things for the journey, his father said, Go thou with this man, and God, which dwelleth in heaven, prosper your journey, and the angel of God keep you company. So they went forth both, and the young man’s dog with them.

17Então, estando tudo pronto para a viagem, Tobias despediu-se de seu pai e de sua mãe, e partiram ambos.

17But Anna his mother wept, and said to Tobit, Why hast thou sent away our son? is he not the staff of our hand, in going in and out before us?

18E sua mãe começou a chorar, e disse a Tobias: Por que mandaste ir o nosso filho? Porventura não era ele o bordão da nossa mão? Não se ajuntasse dinheiro sobre dinheiro, mas fosse contado como nada em comparação de nosso filho.

18Be not greedy to add money to money: but let it be as refuse in respect of our child.

19Porque o que pelo Senhor nos foi dado para vivermos nos era bastante.

19For that which the Lord hath given us to live with doth suffice us.

20E Tobias disse-lhe: Não chores; são chegará nosso filho, e são tornará a nós, e os teus olhos o verão.

20Then said Tobit to her, Take no care, my sister; he shall return in safety, and thine eyes shall see him.

21Porque creio que o bom anjo de Deus o acompanha, e ordena bem tudo quanto lhe diz respeito, de sorte que volte para nós com alegria.

21For the good angel will keep him company, and his journey shall be prosperous, and he shall return safe.

22E ouvindo estas palavras sua mãe cessou de chorar, e calou-se.

22Then she made an end of weeping.
