Tobias 10

1Porém Tobias demorava-se por causa das bodas, e seu pai Tobias estava ansioso, dizendo: Por que se deterá meu filho, ou por que será detido lá?

1Now Tobit his father counted every day: and when the days of the journey were expired, and they came not,

2Porventura morreu Gabael, e ninguém lhe dará o dinheiro?

2Then Tobit said, Are they detained? or is Gabael dead, and there is no man to give him the money?

3E começou a contritar-se muito, ele e Ana sua mulher juntamente com ele; e começaram ambos a chorar, porque no dia determinado seu filho não voltava a eles.

3Therefore he was very sorry.

4E sua mãe chorava com lágrimas inconsoláveis, e dizia: Ai de mim! Filho meu, para que te mandámos ir a terra estranha, luz dos nossos olhos, bordão da nossa velhice, consolação da nossa vida, esperança da nossa posteridade?

4Then his wife said unto him, My son is dead, seeing he stayeth long; and she began to wail him, and said,

5Tendo tudo em ti só, não devíamos ter-te deixado ir.

5Now I care for nothing, my son, since I have let thee go, the light of mine eyes.

6E Tobias dizia-lhe: Cala-te, e não te perturbes; são está nosso filho; bem fiel é aquele homem a quem o mandámos.

6To whom Tobit said, Hold thy peace, take no care, for he is safe.

7E ela não se podia consolar, senão que saindo cada dia olhava ao redor, e rodeava todos os caminhos por onde parecia haver esperança de ele poder voltar, para o ver de longe, se fosse possível, quando viesse.

7But she said, Hold thy peace, and deceive me not; my son is dead. And she went out every day into the way which they went, and did eat no meat on the daytime, and ceased not whole nights to bewail her son Tobias, until the fourteen days of the wedding were expired, which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there. Then Tobias said to Raguel, Let me go, for my father and my mother look no more to see me.

8But his father in law said unto him, Tarry with me, and I will send to thy father, and they shall declare unto him how things go with thee.

9E Tobias disse-lhe: Eu sei que meu pai e minha mãe agora estão contando os dias, e o seu espírito se atormenta neles.

9But Tobias said, No; but let me go to my father.

10E como Raguel rogasse a Tobias com muitas palavras, e ele de nenhuma maneira o quisesse ouvir, entregou-lhe Sara, e metade de toda a sua fazenda, servos e servas, bois e ovelhas, jumentos e camelos, vestidos e dinheiro;

10Then Raguel arose, and gave him Sara his wife, and half his goods, servants, and cattle, and money:

11E o deixou ir, são e salvo, de si, e o abraçou, e disse-lhe: Santo anjo do Senhor seja no vosso caminho, e vos leve sãos e salvos, e acheis todas as coisas retamente acerca de vossos pais, e vejam os meus olhos os vossos filhos, antes que eu morra.

11And he blessed them, and sent them away, saying, The God of heaven give you a prosperous journey, my children.

12E os pais abraçando sua filha, beijaram-na, e deixaram-na ir,

12And he said to his daughter, Honour thy father and thy mother in law, which are now thy parents, that I may hear good report of thee. And he kissed her. Edna also said to Tobias, The Lord of heaven restore thee, my dear brother, and grant that I may see thy children of my daughter Sara before I die, that I may rejoice before the Lord: behold, I commit my daughter unto thee of special trust; where are do not entreat her evil.

13Admoestando-a que honrasse a seus sogros, amasse a seu marido, regesse a família, governasse a casa, e se houvesse irrepreensível.
