Testamento de Jacó 6

1Depois disso, foi relatado a José: “Eis que teu pai está em um estado lamentável”. Ele tomou seus dois filhos, Efraim e Manassés, e foi para Israel, seu pai.

1Now after this it was reported to Joseph, "Behold, your father is in a sorry state." He took his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, and came to his father Israel.

2Quando Israel os viu, perguntou a José: “Quem são estes, meu filho?” José disse a seu pai Jacó Israel: “Estes são os meus filhos que Deus me deu na terra da minha humilhação”.

2When Israel saw them, he said to Joseph, "Who are these, my son?" Joseph said to his father Jacob Israel, "These are my sons that God has given me in the land of my humiliation."

3Israel disse: “Traga-os para perto de mim”. Ora, a visão de Israel havia falhado por causa da sua idade avançada, e ele mal conseguia enxergar. E José os trouxe para perto dele; e ele os beijou.

3Israel said, "Bring them near to me." Now Israel's sight had failed because of his great age, and he could hardly see. And Joseph brought them close to him; and he kissed them.

4Quando Israel os abraçou, ele disse: “Deus aumentará a sua descendência”. E José fez com que seus dois filhos, Efraim e Manassés, prestassem homenagem a ele no chão: José colocou Manassés sob sua mão direita e Efraim sob sua mão esquerda.

4When Israel had embraced them, he said, "God will add to your descendants." And Joseph made his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, do obeisance to him on the ground: Joseph put Manasseh under his right hand and Ephraim under his left hand.

5Mas Israel mudou de mãos: pôs a mão direita sobre a cabeça de Efraim e a esquerda sobre a cabeça de Manassés. E ele os abençoou; ele lhes deu seu patrimônio, dizendo: "O Deus que aprovou meus pais Abraão e Isaque, O Deus que cuidou de mim desde minha infância até hoje, O anjo que me resgata de todas as minhas tribulações, Abençoe estes rapazes que são meus filhos. Com quem fica meu nome, E o nome de meus santos pais Abraão e Isaque. Eles se multiplicarão; eles aumentarão; eles se tornarão um grande povo na terra."

5But Israel changed his hands: he laid his right hand on Ephraim’s head and his left hand on Manasseh’s head. And he blessed them; he gave them their patrimony, saying: "The God who approved my fathers Abraham and Isaac, The God who has looked after me from my childhood till today, The angel who rescues me from all my tribulations, Bless these lads who are my sons. With whom is left my name, And the name of my holy fathers Abraham and Isaac. They shall multiply; they shall increase; They shall become a great people on the earth."

6Depois Israel disse a José: “Estou morrendo; mas você voltará para a terra de seus pais, e Deus estará com você. Eis que você foi mais favorecido do que seus irmãos, pois eu peguei os amorreus com meu arco e minha espada.

6Afterwards Israel said to Joseph, "I am dying: but you will return to the land of your fathers, and God will be with you. Behold, you have been more favoured than your brothers, for I have taken the Amorites with my bow and my sword."
