Testamento de Jacó 3

1Ele ergueu os olhos para o brilho do anjo que falava com ele, que tinha aparência e rosto como seu pai Isaque: ele estava com medo e perturbado.

1He lifted his eyes towards the radiance of the angel who was speaking to him, who was in appearance and in face like his father Isaac: he was afraid and troubled.

2O anjo lhe disse: “Não tenha medo, Jacó: eu sou o anjo que está com você desde a sua juventude. Escolhi você para receber a bênção de seu pai Isaque e a de sua mãe Rebeca.

2The angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Jacob: I am the angel who has been with you from your youth. I chose you to receive your father Isaac's blessing, and your mother Rebecca's. I am with you, Israel, in everything you do and everything you have seen.

3Fui eu quem te livrou de Labão quando ele te perseguiu; Eu abençoei você, e todas as suas esposas, e seus filhos, e todo o seu gado. Fui eu também quem te salvei de Esaú. Também fui eu quem te fez descer à terra do Egito, Israel; e eu espalhei você por toda parte.

3It was I who delivered you from Laban when he pursued you; I blessed you, and all your wives, and your sons, and all your cattle. It was I too who rescued you from Esau. It was I too who brought you down into the land of Egypt, Israel; and I have spread you out far and wide.

4Bem-aventurado o teu pai Abraão, porque ele se tornou amigo do Deus Altíssimo por causa da sua hospitalidade. Bem-aventurado seu pai Isaque, que lhe deu a vida, pois seu sacrifício foi perfeito e agradável a Deus.

4Blessed is your father Abraham, for he became a friend of the Most High God because of his hospitality. Blessed is your father Isaac who gave you life, for his sacrifice was perfect and pleasing to God.

5Bem-aventurado você também, Jacó, porque viu Deus face a face e contemplou o exército dos anjos do Deus Altíssimo. Você viu a escada colocada na terra com o topo alcançando o céu. Você também viu o Senhor colocado no topo com um poder grande demais para ser descrito em palavras. Você clamou dizendo: ‘Esta é a casa de Deus e esta é a porta do céu. Bem-aventurado você, pois encontrou força em Deus e é forte entre os homens.

5Blessed are you too, Jacob, for you saw God face to face and beheld the host of the angels of the Most High God. You saw the ladder set up on the earth with its top reaching to heaven. You also saw the Lord set on the top of it in power too great for words. You cried out saying: ‘This is the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. Blessed are you, for you have found strength in God and are strong among men.

6Agora, portanto, não se preocupe, amado de Deus. Bem-aventurado você, Israel, e bem-aventurado todos os seus descendentes, porque serão chamados patriarcas até o fim desta era; pois vocês são meu povo e vocês são a raiz dos servos de Deus.

6Now, therefore, do not be troubled, beloved of God. Blessed are you, Israel, and blessed are all your descendants, for you shall be called patriarchs until the end of this age; for you are my people, and you are the root of the servants of God.

7Abençoada é toda nação que emula sua pureza, e suas virtudes, e sua retidão, e suas boas obras. Bem-aventurado o homem que homenageia você em seu honrado festival. Bem-aventurado aquele que faz uma ação de caridade em teu nome, ou dá a um homem um copo de água fria, ou traz uma oferenda perfeita em teu lugar, ou a qualquer lugar, em teu nome, ou recebe um estranho, ou visita um doente, ou conforta um órfão, ou veste alguém que está nu, em teu nome.

7Blessed is every nation which emulates your purity, and your virtues, and your righteousness, and your good works. Blessed is the man who commemorates you on your honoured festival. Blessed is he who does a charitable deed in your name, or gives a man a cup of cold water, or brings a perfect offering to your place, or to any place, in your name, or receives a stranger, or visits the sick, or comforts an orphan, or clothes someone who is naked, in your name.

8Não lhe faltará nada de bom neste mundo; e no mundo vindouro ele terá a vida eterna. E além disso, quem escreve um relato de sua vida com seu trabalho, ou quem faz uma cópia dele com as mãos, ou quem o lê com atenção, e quem o ouve com fé e um coração resoluto, e quem quer que imite seu modo de vida - todos os seus pecados serão perdoados, e eles serão concedidos gratuitamente a você no reino dos céus.

8He shall lack no good thing in this world; and in the world to come he shall have eternal life. And further, whoever writes an account of your life with its labours, or whoever makes a copy of it with his hands, or whoever reads it attentively, and whoever listens to it with faith and a resolute heart, and whoever emulates your manner of life — they shall be forgiven all their sins, and they shall be freely granted you in the kingdom of the heavens.

9Então levante-se agora, pois você deve trocar problemas e tristeza pelo descanso eterno, e você deve ser levado para um repouso que nunca cessa, para um descanso que nunca termina, e para uma luz que nunca se põe, e para o prazer, a alegria e a alegria espiritual.

9So get up now, for you are to exchange trouble and sorrow for eternal rest, and you are to be borne away to a repose that never ceases, to a rest that never ends, and to a light that never sets, and to pleasure and gladness and spiritual joy.

10Agora, pois, dá os teus mandamentos aos teus filhos, e a paz esteja contigo; pois estou prestes a ir para aquele que me enviou.

10So now, give your commands to your sons, and peace be with you; for I am about to go to him who sent me."
