Testamento de Jacó 1

1Agora aconteceu que quando chegou a hora de nosso amado pai Jacó, o patriarca, filho de Isaque, filho de Abraão, sair do corpo (e o Jacó, amante de Deus, já estava em idade avançada), o Senhor enviou-lhe o arcanjo Miguel.

1Now it came to pass when the time had come for our beloved father Jacob the patriarch, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, to go forth from the body (and the God-loving Jacob was well on in years), the Lord sent Michael the archangel to him.

2E ele lhe disse: “Israel, meu amado, raiz justa, escreva suas palavras de instrução para seus filhos, e elabore seu testamento para eles, e preocupe-se com os de sua casa, pois chegou a hora de você ir para seus pais e se alegrar com eles para sempre”.

2And he said to him, "Israel, my beloved, you righteous root, write your words of instruction for your sons, and draw up your testament for them, and concern yourself about those of your household, for the time has come for you to go to your fathers and rejoice with them for ever."

3E quando Jacó, o amante de Deus, ouviu isso do anjo, ele respondeu e disse-lhe: “Meu senhor” – pois era seu costume diário falar com anjos. Ele lhe disse: “Seja feita a vontade do Senhor”.

3And when the God-loving Jacob heard this from the angel, he answered and said to him, "My lord" — for it was his daily custom to talk to angels. He said to him, "May the will of the Lord be done."
