Testamento de Isaque 7

1Todo sacerdote hoje (e até o fim dos tempos) deve ser temperante no que diz respeito à comida, à bebida e ao sono; nem deve ele falar sobre eventos relacionados com este mundo, nem ouvir ninguém que esteja falando sobre eles.

1Every priest today (and till the end of time) must be temperate as regards his food and drink and sleep; neither should he talk about events connected with this world, nor listen to anyone who is talking about them.

2Em vez disso, ele deveria passar toda a sua vida ocupado com orações, vigílias e recitações, até que nosso Deus mande chamá-lo em paz.

2Rather should he spend his whole life occupied with prayer and vigils and recitation until our God sends for him in peace.

3Todo homem na terra, seja sacerdote ou monge (pois depois de muito tempo amarão a vida de retiro santo), deve renunciar ao mundo e a todos os seus maus cuidados e unir-se ao santo serviço que os anjos prestam em pureza a Deus.

3Every man on earth, be he priest or monk (for after a long time they will love the life of holy retreat), must renounce the world and all its evil cares and join in the holy service the angels render in purity to God.

4E serão honrados diante de Deus e de seus anjos por causa de seus santos sacrifícios e de seu serviço angélico, que é como o arquétipo que é prestado nos céus.

4And they will be honoured before God and his angels because of their holy sacrifices and their angelic service, which is like the archetype that is rendered in the heavens.

5E os anjos serão seus amigos, por causa de sua fé perfeita e de sua pureza; e grande é a honra deles diante de Deus. Em uma palavra, seja grande ou pequeno, a impecabilidade é exigida de nós.

5And the angels will be their friends, because of their perfect faith and their purity; and great is their honour before God. In a word, whether great or small, sinlessness is required of us.

6Os principais pecados dignos de arrependimento são estes: Não matarás à espada; Também não matarás com a língua; não cometerás fornicação com o teu corpo; Não cometerás fornicação com os teus pensamentos; Não entrarás nos jovens para contaminá-los; Você não terá inveja; Você não ficará irado até que o sol se ponha; Você não terá uma disposição orgulhosa; Não te alegrarás com a queda do teu próximo; não caluniarás; Não olharás para uma mulher com olhos lascivos; e não dê ouvidos prontamente à calúnia.

6The chief sins worthy of repentance are these: You shall not kill with the sword; You shall not kill with the tongue either: You shall not commit fornication with your body; You shall not commit fornication with your thoughts; You shall not go in to the young to defile them; You shall not be envious; You shall not be angry until the sun has set; You shall not be proud in disposition; You shall not rejoice over your neighbour's fall: You shall not slander; You shall not look at a woman with a lustful eye; and do not readily listen to slander.

7Precisamos ter cuidado com essas coisas e com outras semelhantes, até que cada um de nós esteja seguro da ira que será revelada do céu.

7We need to beware of these things, and of others like them, till each one of us is secure from the wrath that shall be revealed from heaven.
